Was anyone else disgusted by Kovalev prolonging the Pascal beating?

There's no doubt Kovalev is a psychopath or a sociopath or some sort of opath

He tried to kill a 50 year old.... for playfully sticking his tongue out at him

 

Yeah that is really shitty of Pascal cause outside the ring he's normally a really nice guy, but his reason for not putting up with the bet is lame as f*ck.

 

Sociopaths tend to not feel emotion. Kovalev reacts emotionally to opponents thst taunt or disrespect him. He's not a sociopath. He Just likes to hurt people who make him angry.

He hasn't held back at all. It certainly seems like he isn't worried if it happens again. He had the fight in the bag against Hop. That 12th round was over kill and uncalled for imo. The man was 50 y/o

Foreman often held back out of concern for the safety of his opponent. Mike Perez fought timidly after the Mago tragedy.
Manny eased off Margo and Mosley in the 12th rounds.

The aim of the game is to win. Not to inflict life threatening injuries on your opponent . Whoever said that is talking out their ass

 

You can bet your ass he wished it was tidiwinks when Manny showed him a glimpse of the after life.

 

Kovalev still has the hunger of a fighter who hasn't made it huge. Both financially and legacy wise. He's there for the destruction, the obliteration.

You point to Pacquiao easing up on Mosley and Margarito. That was after his hunger left.

Manny Pacquiao going into the 11th round against Barrera won 9 of 10 rounds. Had the fight totally in the bag. Roach urged Pacquiao to pick it up and go for the kill and utterly destroy Marco Antonio Barrera.

Pacquiao then came out with a fury and rage rarely seen in boxing. And dropped the hammer inflicting as much pain as possible while his opponent was hopelessly tired, beaten and defeated. Until Barreras brother jumped into the ring in tears after witnessing his brother take an all time savage beatdown.

So don't say Pacquiao would ease up. He was once hungry too. Kovalev is a hungry fighter with the ambition that only a hungry fighter has.

 

I don't fault a hungry fighter for not showing the same restraint as an already made legend.

 

If that is going to be Kovalev's attitude he is going to be hitting air all night. Ward is not Pascal.

 

Not really Pascal brought it on himself with all his trash talking.

 

I think if you're going to be disgusted then be disgusted with Pascals corner.

If Pascal took a prolonged beating at the hands of a nasty, spiteful and vicious fighter and the corner let him take that beating then you should be more disgusted with them.

 

I don't think some people realize just how much power Kovalev generates. Lets be real he doesn't 'look' like an athlete really and his movements in the ring sometimes make it an illusion like his punches are not going to hurt. That hybrid Jab left hook punch he throws doesn't look hard until it lands and you see the opponents face. Kovalev is one of the few legit destructive savage punchers we have in the sport. He is on another level with his power and it is in both hands not just one like most power punchers.

 

Kovalev did what he had to do. If Pascal had shown him more respect he'd have been given a more merciful beating.

Sadly Andre Ward is making the exact same mistakes as Pascal in the lead to to the fight. He believes that goading a man of Kovalev's ability is going to give him an edge and make him become erratic in the ring.

When this only results in a more menacing calculated beating that I don't think even Ward could fathom. He certainly doesn't have the same kind of steel as Pascal. I think deep down Ward knows this is the end of the line for him on November 19th and wants to make as much noise as possible so he can draw as much numbers in as possible.

 

That's part of building up a fight. The point of boxing is to win not to try and give a prolonged beating to someone which could give them long-term damage outside of boxing. The fact that he made fun of him after the fight makes it even worse.
