I think Ortiz is the real number 1 in HW right now

i like ortiz
it is clear he has talent .
he is big at 6.4
well schooled/southpaw/good power in his left hand /does everything correctly.

on the minus side
he is 37 /does not have any fanbase /is to good for to little money to get a shot /
is in the who needs him club /
also for 10 plus years in the cuban amatuer programme / in his prime he was only 3rd or 4th ranked in cuba / so the amatuers 3 round sprint against his nations top fighters he came up short / although i do not think he was ever stopped which is testament to a solid chin headguards or no headguards.

as to ranking him no 1 / that is hypothetical as his resume is paper thin / about the same as hughie fury.

H2H i give him a chance v all of the top ten /
but being ranked number 1 you need to have proved it in the ring
he has not and it is doubtfull unless hearn throws a lot of money at a beltholder that he will get a number 1 ranking before father time catches up with him.

 

Ortiz is the dark horse of the division.big guy good punch good skills.will be avoided like the plague.a fight with Povetkin would be interesting .don't think Alex fancies the job.who can blame him
