Dela Hoya wasn't in his prime at 155. But Oscar would have boxed Canelo's ears off if they were the same weight in their prime. Prime Oscar is a different breed than Canelo, though Canelo is one of the best of this current era.
de la hoya is a different level entirely and would convincingly beat canelo! he had way more tricks in his bag, and had tons more experience against guys far more dangerous than canelo. Oscar was prime at 140-147 but even a 154 Oscar would find a way to come out with the win. I don't think he KO's canelo but a definite UD. a more intriguing match up would be vargas v canelo at 154 ?
That pic doesn't tell the story though as Canelo never looks cut like that on fight night,Cotto,Khan cat attest to that,Oscar would have run rings round him and boxed his ears off but wouldn't have been able to hurt Canelo as the weight advantage he always has nullifying the opponents power?
De La Hoya would dominate Canelo in a boxing match or a brawl. He could win on just the strength of his jab and left up hook alone or he could brawl anf flurry and dominate with his handspeed. The fight wouldn't even be close. I hate De La Hoya as a person (he's a piece of ****), but he was an animal in the ring. And 154 wasn't quite his prime but he was still a beast at the weight.
Prime for Prime, we might not have seen the best of Canelo yet so we can only go with what we've seen so far. Stockings Boy would batter the Ginger Ducker, wouldn't even be competitive.
