On his facebook page, Brook says: I'm staying at 147 Babi! I had a meeting with Eddie yesterday and told him I am not prepared to give up my title. I know there are options at 154lbs and I may even be more suited there but I am not willing to give up what I fought so hard for. I want the unification fights but if they aren’t there then it will be Spence next for me in a big UK show. What are the odds on Haymon sending Spence a different route. Can't see him risking Spence against Brook for 25% in the UK with VADA testing. He will either have to offer Khan as an alternative or it's Calzaghe-Lacy/ Froch-Bute all over again
I want to know how long he's going to stay at 147. I expect him to move up if he loses this fight against Spence, but I doubt he will lose. I know the idea of Pacquiao, the winner of Thurman/Garcia, Khan ,and Bradley are all bigger fights than what he could get at 154 so his options are better at Welterweight, but his body type may be better suited for 154, especially after he just moved up to fight at 160. Another concern I have is his eye holding up. Although 154 is a bigger division, 147 has a few heavier hitters. Thurman, Garcia, and Spence are all known for their power unlike most of the top guys at 154.
Afraid not my fat headed friend. I know you find Golovkin's skin colour REPUGNANT but Brook is coming back and GGG's win is only going to look better. Deal with it hater.
Whilst I'm glad he's going back to 147 I'm worried slightly by whether he'll make the weight healthy. Brook is a unit at 147, he went up 13lbs and still looked a beast unlike Khan who had breasts to go along with his inbred build.
Brooks taking his training a whole lot more serious now. He is at Sheffield university with the top nutritionists and sports scientists in the county, if anything I expect him to be more powerful at 147. Do think 2 fights tops he has left at that weight though. Would love the Khan fight then winner of Thurman v Garcia in the US.
I'm a little scared for Brook here, while I would without hesitation pick him to beat Spence by KO and with relative ease, but he is coming down in weight, and in a way in which he has to lose excess muscle he put on for the GGG match, I think he should stop by JMW on his back to WW and get a match in as he attempts to get acclimated as he's going back down in weight, he never had problems making the weight before, but he will now.
Kell Brook is going to lose to Errol Spence . Spence will never be beaten by any man at 147. I hope Spence is not Brooks returning fight right away. That would prove to be very foolish to jump back in the ring with yet another beast. Especially given the fact Brook will not be fighting at his full potential. His full potential is at 154 pounds. He needs to forget about the belts at 147.
Ah, yeah. I somehow managed to forget about both of them. I don't know why I keep overlooking Cotto now. Not the first time that has happened.
