Given that it is not a genuine belt, do we really need a rematch?

A cross section of views about the Solis McDonnell robbery:

http://www.boxingnews24.com/2016/11/jamie-mcdonnell-beats-liborio-solis-results/

If Jamie was any kind of a man he would have held his hand up and admitted he lost fair and square. Then he should have congratulated Solis on his winning performance. He did neither. Shame on Jamie McDonnell.

The only way for Jamie to regain any credibility is to
1. Admit he lost
2. Rematch solis immediately.

That was one of the worst robberies of recent years, the judges scoring that fight need removing - it wasnt even remotely close that you argue he might have edged it...there was no chance he won that fight, none at all so good on Johnny Nelson for his comments when he came over to be interviewed!!

Actually nelson and smith should have spoken out stronger, I feel. Nelson just said something like " you were lucky tonight".
He wasn't "lucky".
Lucky is when the fight is too close to call and the judges go for you over the other guy. That's lucky.
What we got last night was the fight being given as a gift to the inferior boxer ....the true winner was robbed. Robbery is not lucky. robbery is a whole different thing altogether. Shame on McDonnell.

TBF mate if you are challenging for a belt over here you know you need a KO. This is the reason we are getting the likes of Eric Molina on PPV. Disgusting robberies are the norm for Matchroom shows. I would love to know what Paulie would have said had he been a pundit last night.

I disagree. The Matchroom judges had him 10 up after 8...

Tbf to jamie, coldwell never impressed on him how gar behind he was and at one point, well into the fight he said it was close, or words to that effect.

Maybe Dave was getting info, any trainer would have been concerned last night, delighted he won but thought the other guy Defo deserved it

It was the way he said it tbh Jamie clearly took his comment to heart, but I guess ultimately it is there job to get a comment out of the fighter without being disrespectful....its not often you see fighters met with you were lucky after a fight!

You can't blame Jamie for what happened - he fought, he should have lost, but he honestly thought he won. I'm sure many boxers think they "did enough to nick it" no matter how one-sided the fight they've just lost has been. That's not lying or cheating.

I don't particularly blame Eddie for utilising a system that makes him virtually defeat-proof. He's a businessman after all.

The people I do blame are the judges, the sanctioning boards that let these things happen time and again, and the TV companies (namely Sky) who swallow it all without seeing how the sport is being damaged in their quest for ratings.

I dont think anyone is blaming Jamie as such, its merely that he cannot possibly believe he won that fight and regardless of pointing the finger towards Sky or blaming the promoter, the simple fact is that the marking was incompetently implimented by the judges and lacked impartiality!

Don't understand why Jamie is getting so much stick on here, are people suggesting that he was in on some sort of fix ?

Solis won the fight imo, but the word ROBBERY gets thrown about way too much on these boards. Jamie lost the first half of the fight, but was far more competitive in the second half, although he never won 6 or 7 rounds to edge it and most certainly didn't win anything like the scores suggested.

Unfortunately cash is King, and as long as fighters are offered decent paydays they will keep coming over here.
