Rumours are GGG and his team are trying their best to temp Froch out of retirement so he can show everybody how much bigger and stronger he is......

Regardless of the contract/inactivity issue Froch was hardy chasing him was he?

In fact I don't ever recall him mentioning wanting to avenge the Ward loss (on the other hand he was desperate for the Kessler return)

Will always look back with fond memories of these two fights. The build up for the second one was like nothing I'd ever seen. I remember Groves on the Paul O'Grady show ffs. Never liked Froch as a boxer or a man but could never deny his heart and engine were amazing and got him most his big wins.

The first fight was quality. Everything about it. I remember thinking Groves was wrong for Froch and was sitting there very smug after 6. Was gutted what what happened later.
At Wembley I thought Groves was boxing brilliantly and the commentators were highly biased towards Froch. Doesn't matter anyway because that was the shot of a lifetime.

Will be good to see Groves on Friday. Jury is still definately out on certain aspects of his game.

I'm just happy its behind us, I didn't like the build up and now Carl has turned into a permanently prized *****.

Groves on the other hand is now shot to ****, this was proved when he couldn't get past Bado.

    Froch retired, Groves carried on.

    Groves won ultimately.

    Complete rubbish.

He was fine. Absolutely disgraceful referring.

Didn't Foster get caught liking a FB post before the fight for Froch to stop him in the 9th?

Is there a particular reason you fail to be able to write in coherent sentences?

A few posters have touched upon it, but Froch won that fight in the build up after he'd had the sports psychologist's input. Before the first fight, you could tell Groves had rattled Froch, Groves knew he'd rattled Froch, Froch knew he was rattled, Froch was too keen to bash him up, Groves took advantage...until Groves slowed and Froch caught him. The stoppage was early, but I'm convinced Froch would have got him.

In the second fight, Froch's head was in such a better place. He 'won' the Gloves are Off and kept his head down while Groves did far too much marketing and hype...because he wasn't a Matchroom fighter. Froch taught blokes as a whole a good lesson there, something not right upstairs - there's no shame in going to get help!

I expected Groves to be snapped up by Matchroom and well-managed to another shot in the mix with JDG, Callum Smith etc. but for whatever reason, it didn't happen. I maintain Groves' apparently questionable decision making outside the ring (split from Booth, that Paddy bloke was a bit budget, self-managed, then Sauerland managed) upset his progress in the ring.

He's really giving it large now, even got an article on Sky Sports on how he'd beat GGG. I can't stand the big headed ****, him and his brother are a right pair of clowns.....

Froch does need to pipe down a bit when talking about GGG, if he doesn't want to fight GGG because he's happily retired then that's fine but don't tell us you could beat him right now if you wanted to because unless you can prove it I don't want to hear it.

George’s only chance of beating Froch was that first fight imo but it slipped away as Froch regained himself. In the second fight Carl was ready for him. Carl Froch is one tough bstard getting up from that knock down and fighting on, he was just too gritty for Groves. The only way he could win was to demolish Froch after that knock down, who knows if it was earlier in the round he might have finished him, but that was his only chance, slim and we can only go by the evidence.

I don’t particularly like Carl Froch much, he has a snide smugness I find grating. I actually enjoyed Groves winding him up and rooted for him to win but I knew it was a long shot, I think he was on the way to losing against the first fight, he was ragged and on his way out. In a way it might have been better the first fight ended with a loss cause the rematch was a humiliating defeat after another buildup.

I will say this about Froch though, at the end of the second fight I felt he offered an olive branch to Groves and said some kind things, like the fight was dead even until the punch, but Groves seemed to kind of snub him and after the fight made out he was a mile ahead, so he probably brought the hate from Froch on himself as they might have buried the hatchet lol. But I kind of like Groves, I always saw him as an underdog that kind of surprised you, I loved that first fight and it made me a fan. I don’t think he is done yet but another loss wont be good, I hope he can get that form back.

Funny thing is Froch was up in arms when Calzaghe said a similar thing about him. Added to that he wants to be left alone now he is retired, "find someone else" etc but he wouldn't leave Calzaghe alone for about four years and was constantly calling him out. I admire Froch as a fighter but he is a charmless tool in my mind.
