Shaking the arms off is a way of trying release some lactic acid build up in the shoulders.

Ah. Was thinking it was an oxygen issue...the brains not getting enough oxygen to the shoulders hence the lactic acid build up it didnt look likely the lactic acid was caused by tiredness in the arms through punching anyway. But i dont know if any of that is even nearly scientific mate but went through my mind tonight.

He took a bit of a beating tonight. Enjoyed the fight but at the same time there the fights i sometimes think something might end up going wrong here. The prolonged beatings where sometimes guys are a little too brave for their own good. The other guys powers not enough to get them out of there but still hard enough to sap them over the 12 rounds. Eubank v blackwell comes to mind although i think blackwell actually took a good bit more than the boy tonight.

Cornermen/referees/even fighters themselves should be more prepared to call it a night when things start going south. I know we ve had some memorable nights over the years with guys coming back against the odds etc but sometimes the best thing to do is take the loss then go back and rebuild. I d rather that than guys dying in the ring.

Heres hoping the guys okay and its nothing to worry about. He earned his money tonight thats for sure.

I think his footwork was a bit off last night, not you're imagination at all as a few times during the fight it looked like he had a balance issue. It's not the first time I've noticed it either but I'd never seen/noticed it when he was under Booth.

Yes, anywhere from round 9 I think the corner or even the ref should have stepped in. He wasn't going to win on points and the odds of landing a ko with one eye were massive. Every time he walked to the corner I was expecting them to pull him out. Very tough man. Hope he's alright.

Good post, good analysis of groves. If a guy who can put punches together can get past groves jab he is very vulnerable. His excellent jab and single right hooks are by far his best and main weapons.

to make such a comment above regarding murray to smith and groves being levels above

I agree groves a level above murray and many above smith but when you aint watched two of the most dubious fights in his career one against the lineal middle weight champ in his own country well it makes your post well seem to be agenda esq
decent performance by groves nothing more nothing less there was nothing special there last night

The last 4 rounds were a one sided beat down and I was really surprised the corner didn't stop it. They could have even used the eye injury as an excuse. The chance of Gutknecht landing a big shot was very slim and it could have been stopped from round 9 onwards.

Not sure if i m quite getting your post...but you ve pretty much agreed hes a level above. I dont think i need to watch these two fights to say groves is better bearing in mind groves beat him quite comfortably in his last fight about 6 months ago. But my point was in reply to someone saying if groves loses its obscurity for him when other fighters out there get other chances.
    I.e murray.

We get it mate...people come on here and seem to have the same opinion of something. Thats your oppurtunity to try to get a rise out of them.

No ones got a problem with disagreeing about something but your views always seem to be personal to the boxer. I.e you dont like them as people so they ve not got a good jab. Its hard to have a conversation with people like that mate.

no raise here groves jab is one of the best in the business but you go on about shots ie Murray how many chances as groves had, groves choose not to be matchroom playing the clever man ask yourself what would Eddie have done for him ie smith Murray as you mention
if you took any notice I was. A massive groves fan before he should hos true colours and most of all hiding s fans calling allsorts and for a certain fighter to retire his fans put me off groves and I ask again where did they all go after he gktfo

Tbf to groves after watching that first fight i was calling for frochs retirement as well. Got the win in the end but it did look like the young guard were maybe a bit too quick young fresh for him cause he took a shellacking that first fight. We seen a guy probably take less last night and ended up in hospital with a dangerous situation.

But again ashish it seems like you let your dislike of people cloud your judgement sometimes. Posts littered with he showed his true colours. His fans put me off. Where did all his fans go when he got ktfo etc. Its a bit like i dont like him...so he doesnt get another chance if he loses tonight or i dont like him so he has no chance of winning a world title.

His fans arent really fans because we sit and go i think hes a good man so hes an excellent fighter with no flaws. We kind of judge him on his boxing ability and everything else is a sidenote. You seem to be the opposite with a lot of your posts.

Clear win for Felix. Isn't it "interestin" that Felixstowe never once failed a test until he beat a Russian. A Russian. From Russia. Sports most corrupt country.
