Any news from Eddie Hearn since the BT deal was announced? It is unusual for him to keep so quiet about something as big as this.
Also reports of him sat on his daddys lap talking in his proper posh accent and not that phoney cockney one he puts on saying "oh daddy i shall be ruined, ruined i tell you daddy ooohhh im a failure daddy"
He was on TalkSport the other day claiming that he may lose ''some under performing fighters'' in his stable. For me BT getting involved is great for us. This time next year, with a serious financial rival, there is no way Hearn and Adam 'creepy' Smith will be getting away with a PPV show headlined by a 40-1 ON mismatch.
One thing he is good at is talking. Fact is theres another dog in this fight now and as long as they get a similar exposure as they would get on sky then the rest will be down to who pays the most and if thats fr4nk then off to him theyll go. Eddie is concerned about this latest partnership of course he is.
Frank Warren will no doubt be promising plenty of cash to fighters but he has a history of not paying them properly as outlined in the various law suits his fighters have brought against him over the years.
Matchroom's success starts with the events in the arena. Warren will need to be able to match the production values as well as having BT backing him. As for Eddie going quiet I think he will have been inspired by Donald Trump and looking beyond boxing.....
I don't think much will change initially- details are sketchy as to how this works, for example do they put all the decent cards on BT like Haye etc or does he appear as a Boxnation exclusive? Interesting times ahead but in terms of free agents Haye, Degale and maybe Frampton are the only ones that stand out. Khan would be a possibility if he fights again.
competition is good for the fans, promoters will now be under more pressure to deliver.I'm sure hearn isn't surprised, it was only a matter of time until BT got involved in boxing since they are involved in almost everything else.
