Ward was shaking off ring rust on the job in that fight, he had fought nobody high level for 5 years, The first half of the fight did not look like the ward we used to know but once he dusted of the cob webs he started to take control of the fight you started to see the class and intelligence, he will go into the rematch with that momentum, I predict a much more convincing win.
Yeah I agree, there's quite a lot Kovalev could work on actually, once Ward realised that Kovalev was only doing straightforward stuff like feinting the jab and loading up on the right he could nullify it,Kovalev to my memory didn't wade in with enough lefts and I think judging from his interview where he said next time he'd kick his ass,I got the impression that he knew he could of done more, kinda like how GGG does with the st fighting thing because Kovalev boxed a good fight and still the judges went against him
Cant ****ing wait! A great way to kick off big time boxing next year. I hope it´s in march. Should be plenty of time to promote and get all the details ironed out.
Lol We're going to see Ward getting blasted EVERYWHERE in the rematch. Body, arms, side of head while tied up and then the head shot. I don't think it goes 8. Ward will eat that jab more too.
That's very possible. This could be very similar to Williams vs Martinez. I don't think Ward belongs at this weight. Not to take anything away from Kovalev, if Ward looked bad then he did because of Kovalev. If Ward was in there against anyone else, he would've blown them away.
Well... Ward will be up against the most motivated Kovalev there has ever been. Bye bye Andre. Oh and lets have this s**t in Russia will ALL Russian judges!! What's fare is fare!!
TBH I am not interested in seeing a re run of these two again...but I thought the Gvozdyk/Chilemba stole the show
Ward already set the blueprint with those body shots. He'll win more convincingly the 2nd time around.
Kovalev won the fight but he got caught in the hugging match that Ward loves, next time he just needs to let his hands go and pick him off like he was doing early on.
