POLL: Was Kovalev vs. Ward a robbery?

I remember when it was routine in big fights featuring boxers from different countries that you'd have one judge from each nation - and one neutral judge.

Or you'd have three neutral judges.

But you'd never have three judges from one fighter's country .

Clearly, Andre Ward would NEVER accept a fight with Kovalev if there were three Russian judges scoring.

Yet another example of why Kathy Duva is the worst. She just doesn't know what the hell she's doing.

Kovalev has been successful DESPITE her.

 

Here's the thing.

(Quite apart from the scorecards which imho were bullshyte.)

The challenger is supposed to take the fight to the champion. Ward didn't really do that, Kovalev was making the fight. He showed the aggression and if the fight was close, should have been tipped as the winner.

A bit of a crap decision in the end.

Good fight though.

 

Except for the fact that Ward was dodging, not blocking, most of those incoming shots. So if his face bruised up, you can be pretty sure it wasn't from a blocked punch.

 

Kov was marked up and bleeding from the nose. He didn't exactly emerge unscathed, either.

 

Total BS, Rounds 7,8 and 9 were the only clear Ward rounds. Highway robbery. At times like these I don't why I bother with boxing.

Why aren't you honouring your ban?

 

Boxing math where its 5 or 4 rounds to 7 or 8 for another doesnt justify bad decisions . Why not just skip rnds and have unlimited ones until someone loses? lol

Ward didnt win more than 4 rnds its NOT a close fight it was competitive ,theres difference .

 

What a bad decision ! Kovalev won clearly....

 

People calling this a robbery obviously don't know what they're talking about. I've seen plenty of robberies in boxing and this wasn't one of them. Roy Jones in the Olympics was a robbery! Whitaker/Chavez was a robbery! De La Hoya/Sturm was a robbery! This was just a very close fight that could have gone either way. Ward won it...barely by the skin of his teeth.

 

i haven't seen this many butt hurt eastern europeans since tko6!!!
