Some of the comments on here are ridiculously disrespectfull- any woman that steps in the ring deserves as much respect and shows as much courage as any man.
I think it is legitimate to question the quality and power they carry but I don't think they should be mocked. Women should be just as free to choose to box as men.

However, having said that I personally do not enjoy the spectacle of seeing women fight, I have never liked seeing it at school, in night clubs etc and Ihave no wish to watch them box and hurt each other.

As a dad of a daughter who plays football, I think women should be allowed to partake in any sport they wish to, and be allowed to share a platform with the men.

The mistake people make with women's football is that they judge it against the men's game instead of appreciating and enjoying it for what it is.

Try not to compare the quality of women's boxing against the men's. If you do that it will never take off. Give it a chance and soon it will be completely normal to have women's and men's matches on the same bill on a regular basis.

It's also important to add that these a women are trained to the peak of their physical fitness and boxing skills. They are not rolling round the floor with their nails dug into each other with clumps of hair everywhere. Let's give them some respect.

I totally hear you and get your point, but if it's going to be on the same card as men's boxing, how can you expect people not to compare them? It might be enjoyable 'in its own right' but if the quality is lesser then ultimately the enjoyment will be lesser. Although the matchmaking will have some part to play in that and the talent pool is currently minuscule comparatively.

I agree, if they're on the same bill people will compare it...but if they organise a women's boxing night, it won't sell tickets. This is the only way of increasing its exposure.

Male tennis players are physically stronger and quicker than the ladies, however, because they've had an equal footing in exposure over a 100 or so years, we don't compare them and respect them for what they are.

I don't watch MMA but I've heard of a female fighter called Ronda Rousey. There's no reason why it can't catch on here with females on boxing bills.

Many of us will be dads on here, or if not, will be in future. Chances are, you'll have a daughter. They've been repressed since god knows when. If they want to be a professional sports woman when they grow up, then who are we to stifle that with our prejudices.

Sorry to reference football again, but during WW1, women's football became huge. In 1920, two years after the end of the war, it's popularity was bigger than ever. As an example, St.Helens ladies played a team from Preston at Goodison Park and it had over 50,000 in attendance with thousands locked out outside.

A year later, the FA banned it because they felt that it would damage them physically and their ability to give birth!!! It only became legal again in the 70's. Go and watch Liverpool or Everton ladies now and they get on average 500 people attending. Male prejudice killed that game for women.

If you got this far down, then apologies for the long post.

I think it will inevitably take off as per MMA, and as rightly pointed out currently a women only show wouldn't sell for now. No coincidence that all of a sudden Taylor/Shields and likely Adams have all turned over. Im a father and should my daughter choose to box she will have my full backing as she will in whatever she chooses to do.

    It's 2016 and it's going to happen

The real reason why Eddie will try and push women's boxing is because it will allow him to fill up his 'stacked' cards for a fraction of the price. The same real why the UFC pushes WMMA.

Then with the amount of feminazis and limp-wrsited, feminised men there are today who will scream 'you go girl' and cry sexism at anyone who says they don't like it, there are just enough people lapping it up to allow them to get away with it.

In fairness, on the rare occasions I do watch MMA I equally enjoy the women's fighting. But the women's boxing I've seen just seems to lack something, a certain level of aggression perhaps. It's difficult because - as you correctly say - without exposure and money the talent pool won't increase. Exposure and money requires fan input and most fans - particularly when it comes to boxing which is a mostly male audience - don't want something 'different' pushed onto them when they're already invested into a certain brand of the sport.

The repression is real no doubt but it's more convoluted when it comes to sport. Women are very much on average much less capable of reaching the physical levels men can, which makes their brand of the sports (tennis a fine example) less intense, which can make it a hard sell.

In any case, I've no issue with sticking a women's fight on each card initially and seeing what the reception is. If the fights are good, then the fans WILL get into it. Though because of the reasoning in my above paragraph, I think they will always have to settle for mixed cards if they want people to show up

This made me chuckle. It could have almost come out of the mouth of the president elect during the election campaign.

    I bet you don't like Mexican's either :)

Women should be allowed to fight, just as I should be allowed never to watch it. Good luck to them, but not interested personally...

Katie Taylor is quite hot too, anyone who thinks Hearn hasn't taken that into account too is lying.

I really don't see what the fuss is about.
90% of male boxing is absolutely farcical, pitty-patty rubbish or more often a pointless mismatch.
There have been men in British boxing with about 4 wins and 100 losses, and I've even seen people here praising them !
And fat imports from Oklahoma or Poland, fighting about 7 weight divisions higher than they ought to be, panting out of breath before they even get to the ring. Probably challenging a Brit for a WBO world title.

I don't think a couple of women boxing on a boxing show could makes that situation worse.

The few female fights I have seen have been absolute snore fests but i'm happy to give it another go to see if female boxing has the potential to be entertaining or not. The lack of KO's in female boxing is a problem.
