Currently undergoing brain surgery and no one knows whether he is going to pull through but it is highly unlikely he will be able to box ever again. Lets hope he makes a full recovery.

Surprisingly I have yet to see any donation fund set up to support his cause.

Go on then - what is stopping you?

Hatton and Billy Nelson did not have to even think about doing it - it came naturally

They don't have an obligation to do it every time something bad like this happens. They did it previously because they're young British guys who have been operating on the same scene as them. Plus, Towell (especially) and Blackwell hadn't fought at world level or made the money that comes with that. Hopefully some coaches in Germany setup something similar for Gutknecht and his family.

Hope he pulls through, no doubt the usual suspects will be calling for a ban on boxing once again...

I feel for the ref of that fight because many people have said he should have stopped the fight but that's so easy to say with hindsight. Watching it live the ref had no reason to stop the fight as he was always throwing punches back at Groves and kept his hands up, all be it was a one sided fight but not enough for a stoppage.

It should not be the case that boxers are only helped depending on their nationality and how much media attention there is surrounding the boxer at the time of the terrible incident. It is not just uk fighters who make boxing the spectacle that it is, but all nationals.

I will be pressing forward to support Gutknecht as much as possible. As I for one do not feel it is fair that only when there is a a scene being made about a hometown fighter, with celebrities chiming in, do we have any campaign for the lesser known ones.

That is not charity that feeds such desire, it is publicity.

Yes I object to throwing money mindlessly at causes.

Since no one else seems to care for this poor man in this case as there is no glory or left behind wives involved, I'd like to help in some way and donate intelligently

It's also sad to report that Kuba Moczyk died after his debut fight this past Saturday in Yarmouth. It brings home to you once again how dangerous boxing is it's a sad time for his family just as it is for Mike Towell's family and worrying times for Gutknecht's nearest and dearest.People contribute where they can, when they can be it by donating or sending on best wishes. No rights or wrong's on the matter just respect in whatever form that may take.Silence can also be one avenue some could take in my opinion.
