Dec 10th the worst PPV by matcroom?

just added quigg vs cayatano to the card, good return fight for quigg. cayatano is a durable mexican who went 12 rounds with santa cruz

 

It's bad.
The worst thing about this one is that there are two well-regarded, world-ranked heavyweights on the bill who would actually make a PPV-worthy match.
Ortiz and Joshua are rated as top 10 heavyweights by just about every fan or independent observer, and often both are included in the current top 5.
It's been a dismal and disappointing year for heavyweight boxing and such a match is desperately needed.

 

I think we need to drop the idea that lasting 12 rounds against a good fighter is good neough credential to be fighting someone who claimed themselves a world champion. This guy also lost to Gonzalez who Frampton was (rightly) digged at for fighting. "6th best in Mexico" I think Hearn said at the time...

 

#1 worst Audley v Haye (awful undercard also)
#2 worst Bellew v Clev II (slightly better undercard but no interest in the main event)
#3 worst December 10th

 

Fraudley v Haye wasn't matchroom promoted.
It was Hayemaker and Golden Boy joint.

 

It's not great but will still do good numbers as it's AJ.

The fact that 90% of the arena is sold out says AJ just prints money.

 

It's a horrific card and I'm cringing hard at the casuals on Twitter praising the "amazing" undercard. It's **** poor.

 

Lets be real here. Crap main event but they would never be able to afford the undercard if it wasnt PPV. No matter what you think there big fights on the undercard and fighters want paying.

 

Dreadful undercard, absolutely dreadful main event and quite simply dreadful times for boxing charging PPV money for that card.

 

The undercard isn't bad IMO, the main even isn't PPV worthy though

 

Well that's the point, if it's a regular show we don't complain.

Bottom line is for a PPV to be worth it, either the main event has to be stellar or the card genuinely needs to be stacked with several 50/50 contests between popular, world or at least fringe world level fighters.

I'll be streaming this one because there's no chance I'm paying £16 or whatever it is to see Joshua take Molina out in two rounds and Chisora and Whyte having a wild hug fest.

 

I never understand why Hearn stacks the undercards so deeply on these events- fair enough sticking Chisora/Whyte and Yafai on but Katie Taylor again? Why not let her headline in Ireland? Is that really going to drive PPV buys?

Ideally I'd like to see a maximum of four decent fights as support.

If Hearn needs more dates because of the size of his stable then he should talk to Sky, not have six or seven undercard fights the majority of which are very predictable.

 

He's stacked the undercard so full of fights because he thinks the main event won't last long.

 

Yafia fight could be decent apart from that it's poor
