Not yet. I need to know, mostly so I can prepare a rebuttal in case the Anti-Dempsey's find it. Or, if it's something really damaging, it might change my view on Dempsey all together.

Are you referring to the rumour in the press that he was knocked out by sparring partner George Godfrey while training for the Gibbons fight?

Apparently this rumour had even credence that Dempsey issued an official denial. The press reported that the black workers at the training camp addressed Godfrey as "champ" which got under Dempsey's skin.

 

Aren't there a lot of stories about great fighters getting knocked out by sparring partners?
