No one forces them to buy it. The casuals and hard-core will buy it simply because the build up will convince them to. If Haye ends up knocking Bellew out early the same casuals will likely be happy. Far more happier than they were after watching fury v Klitchko in a terrible fight where hardly any punches were thrown. What turns people off the sport is boring fights. As for froch v Abraham not being on TV. You saw what happened with froch once he got himself a quality promoter rather than some guy who runs shows at Bluewater shopping Centre
Exactly, casuals love knock outs and that's why this fight will sell, combined with the fact both fighters are well known in the UK & like to trash talk, put it all together and you have a Eddie Hearn wet dream. I'm not even mad about this fight being PPV because I understand how marketing works in boxing plus I know I don't have to pay for it if I don't want to.
Prime Enzo would have gone life and death with Bellew or KO'd him and we know how easily Haye beat that Enzo.
I suspect the money those two are getting for it will mean the rest of the card will be pretty limited. I'm sure the WBC said recently that Bellew has to fight his mandatory right after Flores. Wonder if they'll strip him. Remember when Brook had a dangerous mandatory fight that wasn't against a 'name' as such and he went up in a big money casual friendly fight instead? OH 'ANG ON!!!!
And was boxing MASSIVE in this country before Eddie Hearn came into it? Ask yourself that. If you don't like it, don't watch it. As Bellew would say "Simple. As. That"
Oh come on mate, everyone knows who he is...former KGB agent, was receiving political asylum in the U.K until the Russians poisoned him
To be clear, I don't mean the term 'casual fan' to sound derogatory in any way. I'm nowhere near as hardcore as a lot of the guys on here. What I meant by casual, is the large amount of fans in the UK who are only interested in either Anthony Joshua, or the odd mega-fight e.g. Mayweather Pac. Other people may have different descriptions, and it might be different in different countries. But in the UK there are a large amount of people who only watch these kind of fights. The ones that Hearn Jr and Sr like to say 'capture the public's imagination'... and every time they utter the phrase they have pound signs in their eyes On the one hand, I'm fine with it - I really want to see lots more people interested in boxing. I like it when people who don't watch other fights want to talk about AJ, or Mayweather, or Froch and Groves. The hope is that it gets more people watching more boxing. I want nothing more than to see boxing in the UK go from strength to strength. On the other hand, and like this thread alludes to, you don't want them to take it 'too far'. By this I mean a combination of joke fights being sold as PPV, while at the same time real, competitive boxing matches take too much of a back seat. It could come back to bite them further down the line...
The REAL scary thing about this fight is if by some miracle Bellew luckboxes a shot out of nowhere and wins the fight, it would undoubtedly set up a fight with AJ.
