Surely he can expose such a limited fighter?

No, Gassiev's style may look simple but his body punching will eventually stop Ward.

Gassiev might be too big for Ward. I don't know about that one.

Giving away, height, reach, power and natural weight, that's probably too big an ask for Ward...

I'd pick Ward to win. Fight will almost certainly never happen.

Gassiev is too big and powerful. Wards style is all wrong for CW.

    Just a little perspective.

Bellew is far inferior to Ward as a LHW and a fighter in general. BUT.... Is more suited for success at CW because of the fight ending power he possesses(along with his size). Ward wouldn't be able to bully guys around like he did at SMW-LHW and his boxing ability wouldn't be enough to compensate for the size disadvantage. Best case scenario for Ward is becoming another Mchunu. That's actually an interesting fight now that I think about it....

I don't like that fight for Andre Ward, Gassiev is too big and Ward doesn't have enough pop to nullify Gassiev's pressure. Big Ward fan, but I'd stay away from the CW's, unless it's Tony bellew were talking about!:naughty2:

Yeah Bellew would be worth a shot for sure.
That said re Gassiev if Ward did his stinker thing like he did v Kovalev I reckon he could win most rounds,he may not have any power but he's so strong?

That's the one 'top' CW that I can picture Ward beating with a fair degree of confidence. But it makes sense Bellew poses more of threat to the division as a whole than Ward does... Even if it's just a punchers chance.

It's such a large gap in weight between LHW and CW it's the hardest division to move up to. In fact, I can't think of a good reason why there isn't another division in between. It could literally be because they can't think of name. Any suggestions? Belleweight?

It made more sense back in CW's early days when the limit was 190. 15 lbs was a logical gap.

As HW's got heavier, the jump went from 15 to the 25 lbs it is today. That's too much. It doesn't make sense given that so many athletes are going to be too big for 175, but not big enough to deal with guys who cut to 200. In a perfect world, one could eliminate a couple of the lower weight classes where the gap is so small and add one in between LHW and Cruiser, but it's probably too late to put that cat back in the bag (unfortunately).

bellew isn't a big puncher. he couldn't stop that joke cleverly, in two fights. kovalev annihilated him in four rounds.
