Not looking confident after the fight is not the same as believing you lost. I had Ward winning but I thought Kovalev would get the decision. Also, like the other guy said, it's not uncommon for a trainer to tell his fighter this if he believes the fight is too close. Doesn't mean he felt his guy lost or was losing, just means he wants to leave no doubt.

This hit the nail on the coffin. Ward is bitter hes not getting the credit he deserves for this fight. Needs time to calm down and regather himself. Get over those emotions. A lot of you sour Kov fans can relate.

That said, Let him buy his cars, get his wife some bs. Help his family out. Pay taxes. 5 million isn't retirement money especially when you're only in your 30's. My point is the rematch will happen. And guess what. It's going to pick up right where it left off. You guys don't want to admit Kov lost the minute he couldn't close the show. Ward closed it. He out worked Kov.

He nearly caught up on landed punches with a better connect percentage. Kov could only land a jab after round 2. According to compubox, Ward ended up outlanding Kov in jabs but as we all saw Ward landed more variety of shots. The rematch is more of the same minus the flash KD. It's pathetic Ward will never get credit for what he actually did. Kov will fight a more measured fight to conserve the tank. Ward will still be the odds favorite because none of you clowns nor Max or Steven A Smith or any other band wagoner is going to put their money on Kov.

Although I think both are evenly matched, Ward did show he's slightly more multi-facited. Has more grit and more fight than Kov.

I think the reason why he's not liked is because he's false,at least with Floyd and Broner you're either with them or not but Ward likes to come across as a gent but then his actions and interviews show him to be a giant douche.

I don't speak as specifically a Kovalev fan, I speak as a boxing fan. Neither am I "whinging" when I say & the majority of the boxing world agreed, that Ward did NOT deserve the decision over Kovalev. In my opinion Kovalev won 115-112 for what its worth. Ward & also Jermall Charlo after his childish actions
refusing to accept congratulations from Williams after the fight, acted like complete asses.

Just a point I wonder, if Sergey Kovalev had been awarded the very controversial decision like Ward was. would the Ward followers not challenge the judges decision ?? The rematch clause should be acted on immediately or as soon as possible. Sergey wants it that's for sure What about in Andre ?????

    Ward threaten to retire...
THAT is clearly a sign of a guy that wants none of Kovalev a second time and that knows that he got a gift that night. Just read between the lines: Ward knows he lost that fight.

Yep look at his interview after the fight when asked about the rematch by Max after max brought up the contract ward responds with "well see" Ward knows he lost and will duck the rematch. after all he is a huge POS and not a man to honor his agreements look at the whole goosen situation where ward tried to screw him over for years as the man was dying of cancer.

I doubt it as other options at the weight are serious light heavyweights?

It'd be the same. Kovalev fans would be quiet and Ward fans would be in an uproar. What do you think would happen? What would you expect? Don't be a dumbass CJ, I know it's hard but try this once, please?
