Yeah he had surgery on the eye after the Golovkin bout. That's a very delicate situation for a boxer. I hope he recovers fully but all I'm saying is that's a big question mark for Kell. An eye can become aggravated even if the orbital bone appears to have been repaired. More concerning was that it appeared that the eye was a problem even before the Golovkin fight but we just didn't know about it. Brook said he was in a hyperbaric chamber prior to the Golovkin fight which suggests that there may have been some serious damage going into the bout. When a fighter is dealing with head / eye issues it's a big concern.

Considering all this, to say that Brook just completely obliterates Khan, that Khan has no chance, when the guy may have a serious eye issues, well I just don't see how that happens. I can see the fight being competitive, but I just can't see Kell Brook walking through Khan. Khan has a significant speed, reach, and size advantage on Brook. (Brook is listed as slightly taller, but Khan has a bigger frame and is more physically imposing)

Khan looked sharp in there vs Canelo until he got caught, and I just can't see Kell Brook doing what Canelo or even Danny Garcia did to Khan. Khan has some question marks to, with this news about the hand surgery and bone taking from his hip (??). That still isn't as concerning to me as eye surgery. And the way Khan fought Canelo was much more impressive to me than the way Brook fought Golovkin.

Maidana for me was Khan's biggest passed test and credit to him but Maidana that Khan fought was not yet the maidana that Floyd fought, but take nothing away from Khan that was a dangerous fight and he pulled it off. His survival skills against Danny was poor he decided to just duke it out after getting rocked.

Yeah I do believe Brook is a superior talent for sure but talent doesn't always win. That beefy style is all wrong for brook and I doubt he can hold him easily once he gets inside, Brook likes space to throw his great right hands and jabs, beefy doesn't allow for that. But like you said its a good fight I would pick Brook to win but I think the odds will be so skewed I would probably bet on Smith. I would rather Brook fought Spence but I don't think him or his management fancy that fight.

At some point in his fights, Khan leaves his chin in the air while exchanging. Canelo waited patiently for this and timed him with a big overhand right. Garcia did the same, only with a left hook. Watch Khan closely, after an exchange he steps back but doesn't tuck his chin and he's lazy getting his gloves back to make his guard. It normally takes him 4-5 rounds to make this error but by then he reverts to type. I can see him ahead on points early on against Brook but like Canelo that won't concern him. He will use that time to slowly close the range and wait for the opportunity to be presented. Which it will, eventually. Fighting like that is fine if you have a Froch-like chin but Khan has shaky whiskers. That's not a recipe for success...

Fair enough I see your point about the eye but Khan is shot to pieces now, his punch resistance is at its worst, when was rocked by Algeri then he took a long lay off then got knocked out viciously I would rather be Brook thank Khan right now. Brook had no chance in hell against Golovkin so there really was no game plan, Khan had no chance against Canelo that shot would have landed if not in the 5th then the 6th,7th, 8th or 9th. Beefy is a pressure fighter, hes never gonna beat any stronger counter puncher who utilises body or foot movement, he has a chance against Brook because hes more a mid range puncher with no inside skills whereas beefy is a good inside fighter.

Agreed and Khan is not the fighter who beat Maidana... he's slipped quite a bit. Hunter is constantly moaning he never sees Khan between training camps and Virgil places a lot of emphasis on constant training. He's dedication isn't what it was and he's been in some tough fights too. Miles on the clock count against him as well...

Yeah Maidana was one of his biggest passed tests for me as well. Also I thought Khan showed good survival skills vs Peterson as well, who was a very tough fighter fighting in his hometown and Khan seemed to do enough in that fight to win that bout but didn't get the decision. Peterson had some moments where he got to Khan but I thought Khan really responded well in that fight. Also I thought Khan showed that he has real power when he stopped Zab Judah, something that Danny Garcia for example wasn't able to do. (Garcia really struggled with Judah especially towards the end and was really marked up) These are really quality performances for Khan vs top opposition. Granted, in the last few years he really hasn't had any big wins like that. He did struggle with Diaz getting dropped (but won clearly), and yeah Algieri was more competitive than it should have been. (It appeared to me that the version of Algieri that fought Khan was way better than some of Algieri's other performances)

So yeah I would say Maidana, Peterson and Judah were probably Khan's biggest passed tests for me. If he gets that decision over Peterson, the Garcia fight may have turned out differently. I think a lot of people underrate Khan because of the handful of bad KO's.

    P
Presscott a top prospect no he was not gtfoh
Rubio hand picked him as a crude banger and khan was to listen and learn in that fight he thought it would be an easy night as hr was being protected and guided ever so carefully
The wheels came off and khan still never learnt any defence ring smarts nothing just blamed one of the worlds best coaches and ran to roach and still did not understand boxing they are khans own words

I stopped reading st presscott top prospect
Your agenda is plain to see and it ain't needed as khan is on his way out is over man its over

No, no, no. Khan said Brook would tune him up, not that it would be a tune-up fight.

Plenty of fighters have timed Khan. It's not difficult. Khan is not elusive, his wreckless. His a ko waiting to happen simply because he makes the same mistakes again and again. No ring IQ, no ring smarts.

Let's not forget Khan seems mad emotional about Brook and I think his more likely to start reaching for Brook and that's where he will get nailed.

LOL look Prescott was so long ago it's not even that relevent, sure the wheels came off Khan that night but that KO changed Khan. After that Khan came back stronger and became a completely different fighter after that. Following the Prescott fight, he went on a long winning streak vs good opponents up until the Peterson decision. We didn't know much about Prescott when he fought Khan, he was an unknown from Colombia at the time who was undefeated 19-0 with 17 KOs. But the guy was a young strong up and coming fighter who could clearly bang. I don't have an agenda here, I like talking about boxing and discussing matchups and potential fights.

I thought Khan deserved to win the Peterson fight too but it was once again his arrogance which cost him, he thought he was such a great champion that he could beat Peterson easily in his backyard and it backfired (although respect for challenging himself nevertheless). There's a reason why fighters try to get fights in their hometowns, its so the close decisions go their way. Completely agree Khan has a great resume up until after the garcia fight then he realised I can't keep fighting guys with any sort of power so he starts only picking light punchers which works well for him until the Algeiri fight exposed how bad his chin really is. Algeiri did well in that Khan fight due to Khan's one dimensional style, he had no business struggling with algieri if he was world class, we saw what Spence did to Algeri when he got in there with him.

He's a very skilled boxer who Floyd Mayweather wanted no part of. He's never been in a bad fight. Win lose or draw he's hugely entertaining because you never know what's gonna happen. Yes he has many faults, but he's got a great deal of ring IQ and fights at a high level. Even Floyd said so when asked about Khan yesterday. He is elusive, and he's not a KO waiting to happen, but don't blink in a Khan fight becuase it COULD happen. I'm not saying he's the best of the best, but he's definetly one of the top welterweights out there. Isn't he rated #1 at WW for Danny's title? Are the rankings rigged to have Khan ranked so high?

Your a true soldier of the Khan army I can tell, to be fair to you, your not crazy like some of those guys are but you just try to look at the bright side of all Khan's career. Unfortunately Amir is finished, his shot to pieces and I think his only in the sport for money at this point because if he wasn't he would of went for Garcia the moment he was mandatory but he chose to get in a fight he had no chance of winning for big bucks just like Brook did. He should just fight a soft touch and retire coz I can't see Khan beating anyone skilled who has a punch ever again.

If Garcia and Canelo were able to time Khan, Floyd would be able to as well.

LOL @ Khan having a great deal of ring IQ. Khan makes amateur mistakes.
