My first post here! Cheers guys!

Did anyone else see this somewhere else? I read something today on another boxing website where Kovalev says he thinks that GGG v. Canelo is a 50/50 fight?

What I read was very interesting. Kovalev said he saw their sparring sessions and neither guy looked inferior to the other. He said that Canelos competition has been better to this point and he thinks it would go the distance. I found this to be interesting and wonder what made him say this. It was posted on another boxing site. Im curious as to how the subject came up

    What do you guys think?

Also. Im thinking the next year or two could really shape up for Golovkin and turn things around! Maybe Chavez JR? Maybe a winner of an alleged Lara/Andrade matchup? And maybe Canelo too? Wouldnt be a bad stretch for GGG huh?

    Cheers fellas

Certainly would not surprise me if when they fight, it's close and competitive.

GGG is the huge underdog in this fight. It's maybe a 20:80 fight with Canelo as the expected winner. But I believe in GGG, I am sure he can beat Canelo.

Read it at the scene, Kovalev is keeping it real. He mentioned that Canelo stood his ground, this was a while back. People saying it will be a blowout will have a rude awakening.

This might be true, but why is he doing it on GGG's expense. They're supposed to be good friends.

Even Canelo's biggest detractors will admit Canelo has a solid chin. Going the distance wouldn't surprise me one bit. Especially considering Canelo's ability to time and counter come forward fighters.

Golovkin and Canelo's spar happened in 2011 though. Canelo was green as a bullfrog and Golovkin was still a head hunting aggressive puncher who hasn't graduated Abels boxing college yet. Both fighters have improved with Golovkin taking a more patient, methodical approach incorporating more varied combinations and Canelo has improved his stamina and power as he has come of age and took a lot of defensive lessons from his embarrassing loss to Mayweather. I don't think you can judge who would win based off of that sparring session.

I see GGG jabbing Canelos face up. GGG will land mean body shots. GGG will do damage against the ropes.
Canelo will counter Golovkin and land heavy combinations

GGG too big too strong for Canelo

Exactly! He is using sly Russian humor to dig Uncle Abel. I would really like to be a fly on the wall when Kovalev and Golovkin have a private conversation.

Canelo stood his ground against a Golovkin who was probably operating at 70% and was NOT trying to kill the young Ginger?

    Damn, yeah, 50/50.

Triple G will pick Canelo apart and stop him.

Canelos performance against Cotto proved to me he will come up short against Triple G.

Though Canelo will NEVER reveal his fight weight again, you'll see how much bult he has next to GGG

If this is what your assessment is, I can surely mark you as one who 'doesn't know **** about boxing'.

Look at Triple G's style over his whole career, and look at Canelo's over his entire career.

Triple G is seek and destroy aka a counter punchers dream, and Canelo is one of the best counter punchers in the game right now.

Add in Triple G has never faced top level competition, and that verifies---to me, you're speaking with your heart more so than actual boxing logic.
