And then when he got up, he said Smith pushed him.

Spectacular win for Smith who could possibly have two upsets of the year in the same year as well as KO of the year.

Hopkins has always been a sore loser that tossed out of the ring is laughable sour grapes.
Great career. Now enjoy retirement before you get seriously hurt.

The fix was in, so glad Nard took that beating. Man, i thought Nard stolen Smith's horse or something, that's how savage was Smith in beating him

    Sadly true.

But being sent flying out of the ring by a construction worker from Long Island is a great end to his shady and checkered career. I could not have scripted it better.

    Enjoy retirement, Bernard!

How was he hand picked? Was he hand picked as an easy target for Hopkins?

Not hand picked as an easy target, a beatable target and he was doing better in there than he did against Chad Dawson and Kovalev, until the ko. Almost 52 years I hope he quits for good.

Yeah, I know that BC, but I also know that the poster was coming from a different place and I wanted to bring that out. As a matter of fact, pros and cons are always involved in picking opponents as they should be. The pros and the choices for a fighter just gets smaller as they advance towards the championship level. Thanks for the feedback doe.

    His ego was seriously hurt.

Call it karma for his criminal career and sometimes racial garbage talk.

Yeah his racial stuff was uncalled for the white boy to Calzaghe as well as taking Trinidad's flag and throwing it on the floor I was there for that too when he first did it which was at Bryant Park in NYC I was standing next to Leroy Nieman he later did it a second time who is the one that got all the publicity. But anyway yeah Karma bit him last night. I liked him because he was willing to challenge himself and face all comers I think that has to be respected. His style often was boring but at the same time very old school. Not many were as crafty as Hopkins.
Has got to sting that you have big farewell fight and you get KO'd out of the ring. But at 52 he shouldn't have any regrets

Thank God Hopkins is finally out of the fight game. He was one of the most boring, dirtiest fighters to ever step into the ring. Even last night, in his last fight, he was hitting Smith below the belt, on the side away from the ref. He did this throughout his career. Also, did you see the one time the ref thought Smith hit Hopkins low and Hopkins, once he saw sympathy from the ref, was going to take a knee, even though he was not affected at all? Classic B-Hop. The ref said keep fighting Bernard.

I give Hopkins credit for having an admirable career, for not continuing down the path of crime and prison. For that, I commend him. But the reality is, he was a con man in the ring, never as good as the press made him out to be. His greatness came through longevity. He was clever, knowing when to get dirty, and also on effectively varying his power, pat, pat, crack. Good fighter but glad he is gone.

I think Hopkins was a very good fighter on ability, who became great for the reasons you stated.

He's in complete denial that he was KO'd by a Long Island construction worker.
