Malignaggi is one of the best for sure, he tells it like it is and doesn't pander to correctness. I'm British and I've never noticed him being anti-British, I remember him really praising Brook's good work in the GGG fight which some people seemed to be overlooking.

people saying you don't have to to be a decent level boxer to be a boxing pundit.... but for example you wouldn't catch an ex League 2 or non league footballer on Match of the Day.

There's plenty of ex top boxers to choose from that would do it good, I think their views would be more respected because they've been there and done it.

I don't like Fearon either he annoys me. I agree with poster about Macklins crap commentary in Egg v Gavin fight, it was embarrassing. Accept for that though he's been good when I have seen him, P Smith and Bellew both very good as is Moore and Coldwell (him and P Smith are great at breaking it down so casuals can understand it too). Malinaggi is terrific really is, tells the truth. Froch is improving and Adam Smith is at his best when commentating fights. Like the new three way commentary style on Sky, improved a lot recently.

For the life of me I don't see why people think Macklin is a good commentator either.

I thought Paulie was good in the crolla v linares bout.
He didnt tow the sky line if thats what your refering to but that makes him a good pundit imo

the linares comment is a good thing imo. instead of the full on bias from Sky he was saying it as it was

him being a massive trump fanboy is probably why a lot don't like him so much, think he's good as a pundit but a bit of an ass otherwise.

Whereas fearon is just an ass full stop, stopped subscribing to the sky pod a while ago because he wasn't just doing my head in

    It's not only about experience.

Look at Johnny Nelson: There is NOBODY better when he's in the studio in the chair. Behind a mic on a live broadcast? Terrible.

different skillsets though between playing, broadcasting and coaching. Many think the latter two are similar, but as we saw with Gary Neville it's not the case, although I'd argue with training most British or above fighters could be good on tv.

I'd say them not being on MOTD being more down to the league 2 player not being that widely known, although you do see some in other aspects of sky, have also seen some women's players do things like final score who were probably conference level when they played

Fearon is awful. Didn't used to mind him originally but had to stop listening to the T2T podcast because of him. He is racially bias. Constantly attempts to refer back to dates of fights from a by gone era leaving dead air whilst he tries to recall a fight for his own ego. And the podcast suddenly turned into him plugging his bull**** motivational speaking. Constantly repeating phrases that have nothing to do with the content of the show. Il re-subscribe once he is gone. But I can imagine the listenership has dropped in 2016 because he has become intolerable in my opinion. However I don't believe you need to have reached the top echelons of the sport to pass comment, people should be judged on their merit as a commentator not a boxer.

    Fearon is awful.

See, Paulie is very good but because of that people tend to accept his thoughts without having any of their own. Although I dislike them, Smith and Bellew aren't bad pundits at all usually. Though in general I find the Boxnation team much much much more enjoyable to listen to than the Sky lot
