Round 12 was close, but Kovalev clearly hurt Ward to the body. Round 3 is also not a Ward round.

To me they were the first two rounds where Ward clearly dictated how the rounds were fought, and landed the more telling blows.

Round 3 was almost exclusively a wrestling match/fought out of the clinch that Kovalev seemed more concerned to show he was gonna win than actually throwing any shots. Ward took advantage of this to not only get his head together after the knockdown, but this is when he started landing heavy shots to the body in the clinch. All Serg did was try to show he wasn't going to be out-wrestled.

Round 5 Ward landed not only the more telling shots of the round imo, but landed his most impactful shot that actually fazed Kovalev. Which was that hard jab-right hand combo with 30 seconds left in the round, which sealed the round in favor of Ward imo, because nothing of great value landed for either fighter in the last 30 seconds.

I saw Ward outworking and landing the harder shots in round 12.

Round 3 wasn't a Kovalev round either I saw Serg fighting Ward's fight in the 3rd, and being more interested in showing he was not gonna be out-wrestled, while Ward started laying the ground work on the body with big shots to the body in the clinch, as Kov was trying to prove himself to be the better wrestler.

Yeah that was my first instinct about the wrestling thing,he should of been looking to punch Ward as he charged in but he never did

Round nine, was not close at all imo, that was clearly Wards round, just as round 10 was absolutely clear as crystal Kovalev's round.

I've scored the fight 3 times now, and the only round I have had a different score (which was this last time) was the 1st. The first two times I scored the fight I had round 1 10-10, this last time I slightly favored the first round 10-9 too Kovalev.

First 2 times, Rounds, 2, (2 point round with the knockdown) 4, 6 & 10 for Kovalev. Rounds, 3,5,7,8,9,11 & 12 to Ward, with round 1 even for a 115-113 score for Ward. This 3rd time, Rounds, 1,2, (2 point round with the knockdown) 4, 6, 10 for Kovalev. Rounds, 3,5,7,8,9,11 & 12 to Ward, for a 114-113 score for Ward.

As I've said, to me a close but clear decision win for Ward.

Ward knows he got lucky and is trying everything he can to avoid the rematch

How could he land the harder shots in that round, if Ward was the one that got hurt???
I counted the scoring blows one by one in round three and had Kovalev up. He really didn't fight Wards fight in that round.

I saw Ward landing the harder shots in round 12. Round 3 I gave Ward because Kovalev barely threw, Ward was landing hard body shots in the clinch. Sergey seemed more preoccupied with showing who was boss in a wrestling match then trying to land shots and win the round. That's the way I saw it.

To be honest I think Kovalev thought about that as in the interview afterwards he said I came here to prove I could box and in the rematch I'll kick his ass, sounds like he knew he'd let it slip by just not letting his hands go,now I know Ward is elusive but Ward could of nicked two more rounds just by bending his arms and unloading on the inside,Wards a crafty so and so if Kovalev was a beast on the inside he'd of fought at range and so on

Talking about retiring, saying there won't be a fight unless Kov acts like he lost, going to ask for far too much money, etc

Sure, Kovalev deserved to win..but Ward deserved to win just as much. Ward doesn't get any vocal credit for getting back up from the knockdown against a guy with ATG ability, and winning more rounds than Kovalev for the remainder of the fight.
