Likewise - now onto the business of the day; predictions for 2017. As I'm legendary for my predictions I'll start the ball rolling: Jamie Conlon to get hammered by someone this year! Brother Michael to look good and win all his fights. Barnes probably wont turn out to be as good as many believe and will do another Rio - leave many fans disappointed. Tommy McCarthy will leave boxing for something he is actually good at.... Katie and Quigley to make steady upward progress in world rankings. Carl should get past LSC II ok (but I do have concerns...I really do..) Now over to the rest of ye.....................
He is. But he will still achieve a lot I feel. He really is very good - even if he is not the second coming of Manny Pac! Due to the sympathy he got over the robbery, people overlook that he wasn't perfect in Rio. Far from it. He let that Russian back into the fight in the third round, in Rio, and he took a lot of silly punches in that third round - also he appeared stung a few times too by some of the shots he took. If the Russian had been a bit fresher.......
Jamie will be stopped this year,he marks up so easily it's ridiculous he has huge heart and come back skills but there is only so many times you can go to that well.mick will impress this year and be touted as a great prospect by end of the year polls. Ruan Burnett will won a world title because he will get a shot against a lesser champ at home.not sure i see him unifying or winning different weight titles. Katie and quigley will be our best/most exciting fighters. Paddy Barnes will crack the top ten ratings. We will continue to overrate our domestic based fighters and be shocked when they take a small step up and are well beaten. Spike will continue to act the ejjit on social media against lads out of his league and get paid well to get beaten. We will see a bigger number of domestic shows where we will pay to watch our local lads beat roadsweepers but it's boxing so we will be happy. Our amateur team will be a 50/50 mix of new younger lions and old reliable heads.
New show - not sure if been posted so apologies if so Podcast The Irish Boxing Show https://soundcloud.com/ballsdotie/the-irish-boxing-show-episode-1
2017 will be a make or break year for another Irish favourite...Luke keeler. He really has to get at least 4 good wins this year or forget about boxing. His inactivity is baffling and frustrating.
He had a bout fall through during the Summer then headlined a card in November. Activity last year would be above average for modern boxing, especially considering he suffered a stoppage loss. Expect a Spring date to be announced soon
