I don't know who panama lewis is, can someone give a quick description? I don't pay attention to the politics of boxing obviously.

 

he put plaster of paris on his fighter (resto i do believe it was) hands and cut out the padding in the back of the gloves.....His fighter was going to fight a 14 and 0 billy collins...collins ended up taking what would have been the equivalent to two bags of rocks hitting his face for a whole fight. Collins lost...BUT, his father (when shaking resto's hands) noticed the gloves. Both panama and resto were charged and went to jail.
The part im unclear about is collins death....was that suicide?

Yeah he was banned from boxing, and that **** about the gloves was ****ed up. Honestly I'm suprised no one killed Panama for that ****. Also any promoter is a crook to me, especially dealing with money

 

panama's story actually makes me feel sick to my stomach...its absolutely terrible. He truely has a seat in hell waiting for him.
But does anyone know the story behind collins after the fight?
I have heard two things
1) Suicide
2) Hit by a car and the driver left the scene

 

I heard the car accident two weeks after the fight on espn, which is so sad. I think we can all laugh and talk **** on this site. But that **** with the gloves is probably the saddest **** in boxing history. Do you know why it happened? Or it was just the thing to do against a good fighter with a good record

 

Panama is the obvious choice here..
