Just wondering whether anyone thinks Cotto will stop Margarito, I know Tony's got a fantastic chin as he walked through Cintron's right hands like they weren't there, but I've always felt that Cintron's power might be over-rated as he's never KO'd a quality opponent I don't think.

We've seen Margarito rocked by Clottey and Santos before and I'm not sure how well he can take body punches, and Cotto's probably works the body better than anyone else out there at the moment.

Just wondering whether it might be worth putting a little bet on Cotto to stop Margo.

Cotto will stop him. I think alot of people are gonna be surprised at how one-sided this fight is gonna be. Look for a very beat up Margarito to be stopped around the 8th or 9th round.

Safe bet is Cotto on points. However he's a monsterous body punches so it might happen... but it's really a hard fight to pick... putting small money on either fighter by TKO or KO could be a good choice...

I'd say that Margo comes through a few rough patches, but ends up losing on points.

Never say never and all, but I don't think Cotto will stop him.

I think Margarito will win this one - Cotto is great, but not the second coming of Jesus as some would have you believe.

Margarito is totally the wrong type of opponent for Miguel in my opinion, and will walk through whatever Cotto throws - then again, I could be wrong, and Cotto could show us the boxing skills and keep Tony at bay.

Either way, can't wait for the fight - but Mayweather beats both.

Good question , Cotto is no doubt the best fighter Margarito has ever faced to date .. well I should say the best but I have to rank Cotto above Santos , and Clotty as far as skill and power . Cotto has a blend of those to fighter the skill of Santos and the power of Clotty .. if Cotto uses the boxing skill of santos with the power of Clotty he shouldn't have any issues ,he may be able to stun margarito at time and win a decision UD ..

But if he/Cotto tries to beat margarito at his own game I see him losing in a war that really does not fit his style ..

    Yes.

Most likely not with Margarito lying on his back from a punch to the head, but from a left hook to the liver or solar plexus. Or with the ref or corner stopping the fight.

I think that the most realistic stoppage scenario is margarito ending up with his face so busted up that his corner stops the fight. I think he can take Cotto's shots both to the head and body but over 12 rounds he may get worn down. I don't imagine him going down for the count though.

    Absolutely

Margarito is going to take such a horrific beating with this mesh of styles. I won't be suprised to see a ref stoppage, or the towell thrown in

better chin then mosley maybe, but better strength and stamina dont think so! look at mosley's k.o. percentage and he has faced much better competition then margarito.

These guys are both very much capable of stopping each other. Both have never been kayoed . . . but there's always "a first time" . . . though I wouldn't bet on it.

    :think

Intresting posts....I think Tony's tough as nails but I see him being seriously outclassed and slowly broken down...I expect a late stoppage by the ref or his corner. Of course this is boxing and anything can happen but I think Cotto's got to much class for this gunslinger.:smoke

Well perhaps they should have done, Paulie took one hell of a beating and hasn't looked the same since. He's been on ***** street a number of times since :yep

Paulie is more elusive target anyway. Margarito is going to stand there, and get beat up

Seriously...your comparision is totally off. Paulie for all his flaws is still signifigantly elusive, Margo is much more hittable and 2x as slow. The towel being thrown in will not be an insult but more of a mercy calling. Margo won't know when to stop which is commendable, his determination is what will keep this fight intriguing for as long as it last.
