Dejan Zlaticanin is a 5'4 32 year old Lightweight with a 21-0 14 KO's record. Born in and fighting out of Podgorica, Montenegro. I must admit I've been underestimating Dejan for quite some time now, I've never rated Petr Petrov so even with his win over him I didn't think he was anything all that special, especially since he looked underwhelming in victory. Same goes for his win over Ricky Burns who I've also never rated all that highly, it was right after Beltran broke the Rickster's jaw and he was schooled by Crawford, so the jury was still out, although the left hook he nearly KO'd Ricky with in the 1st was brutal. But he finally made me a believer when he obliterated Ivan Redkach in 4 rounds, while I don't think all that highly of Redkach either, these wins clearly aren't flukes, Zlaticanin has slowly but surely been racking up quite a resume for himself over the last 3 years. He fights like the Tasmanian Devil a whirlwind overwhelming and swarming his opponents with activity, left and right hooks flying most incapable of taming him in the least, maybe a more skilled matador can do it, but he's yet to run into one who can. Will he remain a force, possibly, but with his help and others Lightweight is finally start heat up and there's an influx of talent capable of beating him, or are they? He might just be the dark horse of the division that everyone else is sleeping on as well. So Check Out Dynamite Dejan in Action.:toney:toney:toney:toney Educate Yourselves Zlaticanin Vs. I'm kind of happy actually, I like Linares and Zlaticanin, I don't really want to see that fight. At least he gets a chance at taking the 0 of Italian vet Marsili next month, which might be easier said than done.
Boxing's is changing in terms of where the talent is coming from. It started at heavyweight and has worked it was down to lightweight. The 2016 Olympic games are going to be excellent for boxing. It's a stacked class, and they no longer box with head gear.
Zlaticanin reminds me of Ippo from Hajime no Ippo. Small stature, but built like a tank! Inside is where his game thrives. This will be a good test for Mikey and although I favor him to win, Zlaticanin is a serious threat here. The Redkach fight is a good visual aide to see how Zlaticanin and Garcia will look when in the ring together. If Zlaticanin can get past Mikey's stiff jab and go to work on the inside, he's going to put up a good fight. Mikey needs space to work, so if he can't keep Zlaticanin at his preferred distance, he may find himself digging deeper than he expected to pull out the win.
Good assessment, that's the way I see it, even if Mikey can pull off the win, this will not be a walk in the park for him.
Cant wait for the fight this weekend.... to be honest I didnt know who he was until this fight. I think hes going to give Garcia some hard hard work.
