That chin was on the verge of shattering when Wlad stopped him, he hurt an old Mercer like no other although I did he see him worse in K1.

Remember reading that Mercer lifted weights for the Klitschko fight and that he got alot of his strength
and endurance from carrying the heavy machine gun on treks when in army because he was the
biggest he was made to carry it.

I seem to remember the mercer_Lewis fight was a majority decision. A very tough fight for both men where Ray was actually out jabbing him a lot of the time. Showed what he could do when he was on form. Then there was smoking bert where both men were knocking lumps outta each other. Rays face after that one!! The morrison fight with the brutal ending. A lot of memories of mercer in the 90 s

Years later Briggs stopped him. Knocked him down and out so I see how you think Wlad's knockout was any better. Mercer got dropped by Holyfield with only 1 or 2 punches. His fight with Lewis made people who don't know boxing think he couldn't be hurt when in reality everybody can be hurt and knocked out.

I don't see what any of this has to do with his training routine though.

Tyson would of destroyed him and even a old Foreman up until the Pierre Coetzer bout would destroy him. Ray Mercer stood fight there. He wasn't fast or hard to hit. He wasn't a boxer so he wouldn't pose Tyson any problems and guys who moved a bit gave old Foreman a little trouble. Mercer didn't offer any of this.

I do think that tyson would have beat him but certainly not destroyed him. Mercer wasn't stopped till late on in his career and took Lewis and holy field best punches. But I feel that tyson would have out punched him to a unanimous win. Foreman fight I believe would have been like the Alex stewart one with both men knocked up in the face. And perhaps a slim win for foreman

Ray Mercer was a beast, one of the most solid guys to ever step in the ring. Love the Lewis fight when I take on a tall opponent I always in vision the way Mercer powered his way in with his jabon Lewis and unloaded on him. I think if him and Tyson met in the late 90's would've been one hell of a fight I'd in vision it to be something like Tyson vs Ruddock and Cooper vs Mercer I would pick Tyson to come out with narrow decision but who knows he never fought a guy whod be able to take his punches like I think Mercer would've and keep applying pressure.

When Ray Mercer was an amateur he trained with Team USA and Kenny McAdams who was head of the coaching program so he would have followed the schedule set for him by McAdams who was a former military boxing coach and strict disciplinarian.

If I recall correctly it was typically

    Mondays Wednesdays Fridays

    Early morning run or sprints
    Pads and Sparring

    Tuesdays and Thursdays
    Strength and Conditioning

    Saturdays
    Long distance run
    Heavy Bag, Pads

    Sundays
    Rest
