This. When you factor in the fact that the mild-mannered Al Bernstein described the reffing as the worst he'd ever seen, with numerous unpunished low-blows, and the fact that Salido missed weight and came in as a welterwt, and the fact that it was a split decision, and the fact that it was Loma's second ever pro fight, and finally, the fact that Salido barely hung on till the final bell, I think a huge asterisk is needed beside that result. I can understand why Salido is reluctant to face a stronger and better Lomachenko on more even terms.
You can make a case for either fighter winning . Salido should have definitely gotten a few points deducted which probably would have Loma winning a decision .
It was actually a very close fight, could make a case for either man winning. The issue is Salido coming in over the weight limit and the official allowing him to throw combinations to Loma's balls in every round and perhaps bailing Saildo out in the final round by giving him time while he was hurt. Despite the blemish on his record, Loma deserves a lot of credit for this fight, especially finishing so strong and rocking Saildo in the last round.
Not a robbery as far as the scoring. The ref was awful and turned a blind eye to a lot of illegal tactics, but that is the pro game. If Loma had 1 more minute I think he gets Salido out of there, Orlando was spent at the end.
loma lost the fight due to ref letting salido get away with illegal punches. the blows were excessive and loma for some reason didnt say anything to the ref or hit him back in the nuts . he just kept on fighting his fight which now im sure he knows wasnt the right thing to do , but thats what happens when you jump in there with the best fight asap so i admire lomachenko for even getting in the ring with salido and loma almost got him outta there at the end. if they fight again salido wont get away wit that again even if the ref doesnt do anything about it . loma will have some thing for that.
Aside from Salido missing weight, stepping on the scales at 128¼lbs instead of the contracted 126, coming in at a whopping 147 on fight night, which was 11lbs more than Loma weighed. And don't forget that in his previous fight ie. his pro debut Loma weighed 129 in the ring so sneaky cueball head Salido was probably hoping to have an even bigger weight advantage come fight time than he did. He was probably expecting to have at least a 15lb avantage. If Loma had come in at 129 as opposed to the 136 he did come in at, Salido would've had a 18lb advantage instead of 11lbs which is still a huge amount of weight for FWs. Salido wailing away at Loma's nuts, hips, thighs and even sometimes almost as low as his kneecaps (no exaggeration) all night in a display of some of the most fragrant low blowing I've ever seen. And Loma having to fight two opponents in the ring as opposed one, the other being Salido's tag-team partner aka the most corrupt POS referee in the entire sport Laurence Cole who let Salido get away with blue murder. Ever so conveniently Cole missed all those low blows. IIRC he only warned him once. This is the same Laurence Cole who managed to spot Abraham and Dirrell's feet getting slightly tangled when Abraham dropped Dirrell in the 10th round of their fight (Cole chose not to count it as a legit KD because of that, oddly enough he had no problem counting a questionable one for Dirrell in round 4). Funny how Cole spotted their feet tangling but missed dozens of low blows Salido threw, some of which were so flagrant Stevie Wonder could've seen them from a mile away on a dimly lit night. And Cole allowing Salido a few extra seconds to recover when Loma hurt him towards the end of the fight. Check the punch stats Loma 164 Salido's 142 That's 164 legal shots by Loma not ball breakers. Of Salido's 142 shots landed at least 30 of them were below the belt. So people are counting those shots for Salido when they're scoring the fight for him. Salido should've been DQ'd never mind received numerous points deductions. This content is protected
The judges did okay in this fight. You can't deduct points for low blows if the ref didn't recognize them as low blows. And if they are not recognized as low blows, then they count as shows landed. Salido had an excellent connect percentage to Lomachenko's groin area, I think most if not all of 45 + low blows landed flush.
stop crying loma lost ........ most of them punches landed on the belt line and the other on hes legs plus if loma didn't complain that tell you that it didn't bother loma so why does it bother you mofos
Loma was coming on, but lost that fight. Probably the ref could have called a few of Salido's fouls. But it made Loma a better fighter. You won't hear him complain. The answers in this thread are a nice example of fan bias in boxing, and how little posters here know about scoring a fight, by the way.
Watch boxing and you'll see Salido/Lomachenko low blows and missing weight isn't an Earth shattering, Satan conducted, Putin approved, unprecedented occurrence. Wouldn't know it by the way some reference it to an extreme, though. I've always hated Salido for a lengthy list of reasons. But to see him beat "the Chosen One" by the means he did wasn't so sad for me, especially when a lot of those same guys questioned and belittled my previous, and still current, opinions of Salido.
