When was the last time boxing had a #1 pound for pound fighter, seeking out the best man for his next fight? If he's unavailable, Lomo will take #2 and if he's busy #3! Unlike Mayweather, and to an extend even Roy Jones, Lomo doesn't avoid anyone! For Lomochenko, he doesn't care if a fighter has a style that might work against his skill set. He doesn't care if they are a puncher either. He doesn't push fights back to " wait for his opponent to age" nor does Lomachenko target once great fighters on the decline. His mantra is, Give me the best, and give it to me now! And he's all action and very fan friendly to watch. Just imagine how good boxing would be if the other champions followed suit.
Loma is my #1 fighter currently but there was a time when the Rigo fight could have been made. Rigo and Loma were both under Arum. I don't know who's at fault but that fight should have been made. The weight difference is too much now.
I agree but do you think its more that his promoters or more fighter friendly as well? I mean I'm guessing Loma is not making the huge paydays that the GGG, Canelo and Ward are making. Seems like money is the root of all evil.
Bob Arum is offering chicken feed to Salido AND Corrales and Lomachenko is not saying anything about it. His $1m paydays are starting to feel comfortable now.
Great thread. Lomachenko really is a breath of fresh air! I always appreciated fighters like Marquez for the same thing. Although I never considered Marquez to be the best fighter out there, he was never concerned about fighting the best. But, mark my words. Within the next 2 years, there will be haters claiming that Loma needs to move up to 160 to prove he is the one. We have a very disrespectful 'fanbase' at times.
