Mayweather ducked Margo, now Cotto!! Documented by video!

I don't think there's anyway to dispute that Mayweather has been ducking Margarito and Cotto.

Floyd had the opportunity to fight Margarito but decided to take on Zab Judah, and old hoya instead. He had the opportunity to fight Cotto, but he decided to fight Junior welterweight Ricky Hatton. Now he's fighting Hoya again and then possibly Hatton again?

People to this day claim Sugar Ray Leonard ducked Pryor to move up to Middleweight to fight Hagler, well I'll tell you something, I'd have nothing but respect for Floyd if he ducked Margarito to move up to middleweight to fight Kelly Pavlik.

You see, I happen to respect boxers, their dedication is unprecedented in any field of human activity.

So, right, he's flirting with the mainstream and us boxing aficionados don't buy his ****. Still doesn't take away what he's accomplished, which is infinitely more than what Margo and the rest of the bunch has accomplished so far. And frankly, you're a bit too low on the food chain to obsessively shoot Floyd down the way you've been doing since your inception on this board (a sad day if I have to name one).

I'd love to watch some poster's reaction should someone post a video mocking Roberto Duran after the infamous "no mas" - you'd get ****ing Armageddon on this board.

it still boils down to marketing. Sugar Ray Leonard did it when he ofught Tommy Hearns he waited and waited, until the fight was so big it went on 2 b one of the biggest paydays in boxing history. Why cant floyd do that? Cotto has a following yes, but if he beats Margo this will make the fight even bigger, and Floyd is trying to maximize the revenue out of this fight. He beats Delahoya for a nice payday. Cotto beats Margo, the public are even more into the fight now, which will force promoters to kick out more money. HBO 2 kick out more money. Its all a domino effect. Floyd is doing the right thing IMO. Yes I know it sucks for fight fans, but just have patience. It will happen just give it time.
Floyd could probably make a cool 20million or something to that extent for this fight, but why take that, when you can maximize it out and get more. If Cotto beats Margo and Floyd beats Delahoya. Every promoter in the game will want to get on board, Lasvegas HBO, I mean this could b huge, just give it time.
Now if Floyd doesnt fight Cotto and retires, I will most definately say that he ducked him, but right now I just see him making smart business decisions

 

Some of Mayweather's critics are so obnubilated by this "ducking" thing, they fail to see the larger picture. Yes, it boils to marketing and ROI.
