How about a HBO belt?

    Boxing organizations suck. Bogus rankings, politics, and failed purse bids prevent the fans from seeing the matched they want.

    At this point in time, let HBO have their own belt. At least they have money set aside, a network and infrastructure to support the fighters and a much fairer ranking system.

    Yeah, HBO can be cheerleaders too, but as a business, at least you know their gunning to put their best product forward. In other words, their champions will no be permitted to what I call " Belt milking "

    Belts don't matter these days. Fights do and I've had it with these meaningless title defenses.... HBO delivers the goods. Not perfect but much better than the WBC, WBA, IBF, and WBO.

    As long as any network guarantees their champion will be fighting someone worthy at least once a year, fans will quickly abandon ABC politics....

    Yeah, Showtime too if they have the same standards. This is not to say they won't be purse bids, but it is to say mandataries and will be relevant, and fans won't have to wait forever for the mega fights to materialize.

    HBO is notoriously bad at making fights and judging quality. They badmouth ratings bodies to no end, but they usually suck when they purposely get involved in trying to make big fights.

    The examples are endless.

    There was a time when HBO was trying to get all the champs who had deals on their networks to dump their belts, because HBO was trying to do something like this (became basically a ratings body).

    But the champs didn't buy into it.

    Horrendous idea, HBO is an entity that has shown downright favoritism in the past, they would be
    no different than any other sanctioning body. In fact, they may be worse.

    Now I can pick one up. There's probably even a WBC Participation Award World Championship title.

    Bad idea.
    What boxing needs right now is more cohesion, not more division OP.
    Division is whats making fighters have weak defences and terrible championship runs. If there would be only one belt the best would fight the best always.

    HBO could then sell off the naming rights for their belt like as done with stadiums. I can see it now, the HBO Bush Beer belt champions is...? It would be the perfect foil showing how pathetic boxing is atm.
