We all saw how much he dominated the first fight, certain elements have tried to claim it was a close fight but any rewatch will son disabuse you of that view.

Nevertheless such talk helped sell the rematch.

If Carl won what was left for him? He'll never take the Rigondeaux fight and that leaves him with Quigg or Selby. Selby isn't big enough name yet and he'd probably lose the Quigg rematch.

That left him with very little to play with. He's 29 and not got too much time to make the paydays. The biggest payday of all? The completion of the trilogy in his home town. He would earn double (if not more) from this than any other fight. Make no mistake Carl will win and win easily.

Also, this helps to build the Selby and Quigg fights. Selby will be next, if Lee has built his name. Fighting Selby post Trilogy would be a smart move. Then onto Quigg as a possible stadium fight at Old Trafford.
By then any loss to Quigg would be less devastating. He could then even cash out with a farewell against Rigondeaux.

Watching the Vegas fight was a little embarrassing. It was so obvious what he was doing. Hence the guilt induced round he bought in the bar post fight. He short changed the fans to line his own pocket. That will be forever be a stain on his record. It made financial sense but to defraud your fans like that is a shoddy move.

Yeah, I actually think he did, he was on cruise control. He and Leo probably agreed to it beforehand.

Yeah, the illuminati and bildenburgs colluded with the Jews to have the fight end in a MD

Yeah just like the US government had nothing to do with conspiring with and arming right wing death squads and overthrowing countless third world governments from the 50's through to today, oh wait, they did and still are. Its must be fun living in a world where all men are virtuous and honorable and would never ever ever ever think of doing anything untoward in their own monetary self interest, God you're so naïve.

Didn't throw it as such but I think he knew he was in a win-win situation as if he lost he'd still be paid well for the third fight.

The way he put on so much weight after the weigh in shows he probably wasn't taking it as seriously as fight 1

Don't know what you mean by never take the Rigondeaux fight though. Rigo ain't interested in live bodies since Roc Nation gave him that contact.

What was so brilliant about it? He a slight variation on what did what he did in the last half of the Mares fight, no big deal.

with a close matchup like this anything can make the difference...fighters can have off nights...

some days you will feel like a demi-god in the ring and others you will feel lethargic slow and useless. Just wasn't on point...

It's very hard when you're a smaller fighter and you try to outbox a taller opponent from the outside. he did everything he needed to do first time around but didn't manage to do it again 2nd time around.
