    He needs to learn English!!!
Black is black, but somehow afro Latinos pretend like they are something other than what they look like in the mirror. Gamboa had it at one point, if he could speak just a little English he couldn't have been a super star. All those Cubans, Colombians ,etc have better skills than Broner but refuse to learn English to build up a base. Amir Khan was on 106 & Park on BET trying to get a black fanbase and these guys are content with just having south Florida.

It's a shame really because those 3 guys (Lara, Gamboa and Rigo) are terrific fighters. Maybe if they came to the states when they were around 21 or 22, they could've adjusted here a bit more and at least attempted to pick up English.

I agree with you that the language barrier hurts them from becoming popular fighters. They've ben living in the states for years now, they should've picked up some English by now. Gennady's English is broken but at least he's been attempting to hone his verbal skills. I think his broken english actually endears him even more with fans.

    They should learn english ?
    Why ?
Half the english speaking champions have trouble speaking it.
As for coming over to america.fck coming over to america, every fighter over the last 100 years has had to go to america on away soil.the likes of joshua and the europeans will pave the way for the americans to have to travel for once.
What if china took over vegas, would toney have to kearn manderin ? Ha.be funny to see

Ducking Guillermo Rigondeaux is a time honored boxing tradition. My father did it. I did it. Some day, I hope to teach my kids to do it. Every year we gather round the yule log and sing songs about how none of us fought Guillermo Rigondeaux. And then we send the kiddies off to bed warning them to brush their teeth and say their prayers or Bob Arum will sneak out of their closet and drag them off to Vegas.

Managing and promotion is 50% of the job.
The other part of the job is taking good care of your fighter. His finances (earnings, taxes, etc.), his training, etc.
    A manager, manages. Get it.
The better he does his job and manages the boxer's career, the more and better fights the fighter will have, and the more prize money they will earn.
    A promoter, promotes.
The better he promotes his fighter the better that fighter will be known, because his promoter is doing their job and putting the fighter's name and game out there in the public's ears, eyes and minds.

If your promoter is wack, then take a lesson from the sport's two highest earning boxers, Oscar DeLa Hoya and Floyd Mayweather.
When their mutual promoter, Bob Arum, was doing a poor job in promoting them, they kicked his tired ass to the curb and then earned 50x the prize money without him, then they would have earned had they stayed with him.

Because unless you're a big Rigo fan no one wants to watch him fight, he's boring. No one watches means low payday for the opponent. Low payday, plus almost certain defeat is not much incentive for other top fighters to fight him. I don't blame them for that, I duck crappy, tedious, & difficult aspects of my job that don't pay squat extra too. Let the next sucker take care of it :dancer2:

 Im so sick of hearing ignorant boxing fans solutions to every ducked fighters problems being 'well move up in weight then', especially in Rigos case where hes already constantly undersized.

As for the thread, ya its a crime what happened to Rigo. A great fighter that has been unable to write his chapter in the book of boxing and denied his legacy because his best available scalps straight ducked him.

You can bet as soon as he starts slipping significantly, some up and coming lion will take his 0, and all the haters will come crawling out of the woodwork talking about how exposed he was.

Pac's experience says otherwise. It's also telling that all of the highest earning fighters were managed by Arum. You have to remember that Oscar left Arum after he'd already made a 24 million dollar purse against Trinidad. Plus, Floyd was already regularly earning 8 million dollars a fight when he left. He didn't start making more than that until he fought De La Hoya, and he could have done that under Arum just like Pac did. Pac's overall earnings are about the same as De La Hoya and Mayweather's. The only thing that put Mayweather over the top was getting the bigger split of the Pacquiao fight. Before that, they were neck and neck and had both earned as much as De La Hoya, Tyson, or Holyfield.

Why would anyone fight a guy like that if they can get a good payday fighting an easier opponent? Now, Rigo likely won't put someone in the hospital, but he is too hard to beat, so it doesn't do much for a guy's profile. Also, the possibility of knocking Rigo out is slim to none.[/QUOTE]

TBF he's put 3 of his last 5 opponents in the hospital with broken faces and one shot Koed another.
