Great interview, Ward comes across really well there and shows a side of his personality I never realised he had. I've always thought Ward to lack charisma and too often sticks to the script during press conferences etc..."my manager makes the decisions talk to him"...instead of telling us what HE thinks.

On the Ward vs Kovalev decision. I think the only acceptable scorecards would be a draw, a 1-point win for Ward or a 1-point win for Kovalev. When a fight is so highly polarising it can't by logic be called a robbery, which all the talk of is ridiculous.

Ward trying to talk himself up again. He lost and simple as that, his glass was cracked by Kov. he refused to engage properly and Kov pressured him, bullied him and won the fight, sadly American judges are rewarding American fighters for not engaging.
I actually thought old man Kov would lose to Ward as I believe Ward is great defensively and uses wonderful illegal spoiling tactics coupled with his footwork and speed, but he couldn't keep Kov off him and it ended up being a confortable win for Kov, just a shame American judges were involved.

 

I liked you more when the only thing you could say was "I am Groot!"

Interesting that those who have responded to this video and are Ward fans or neutral have done so with reasoning and logic whereas the Kovalev fans' reaction is, on the whole, very emotional.

 

It's by far the best interview I have ever seen from Ward, interesting and insightful. For the record I am not a fan of Ward. He does make some good points which i agree with. There is no way the Kovalev fight was a 'robbery'. Personally having watched that fight multiple times to me it was either Kovalev win in a very close fight or a draw. Kovalev definitely did fade in the later rounds.

 

I watched that whole video. I disagree with a few things. I felt Kovelev won that fight and that has already been talked to death. And I think Andre is more concerned with the rematch than he leads on. Come on, he knows the rematch won't start at the 13th round. Kovalev is going to be fresh again and looking to hurt him more than ever. He's going to have to weather that early storm again if he is to win. And I think the huge uproar about robbery was more to do with the stakes and what Kovelev lost as a result of the decision more than how much of a bad decision it was. I've seen worse decisions by far, but this was the biggest fight of the year with the most on the line.

However, I thought this was an excellent video and Andre made a lot of very good points on most everything else. I don't like his style in the ring all that much TBH, but I have a lot of respect for what he says when it's not directly involving himself.

One thing though... Where are all these excuses he is attributing to Kovalev (gloves, mat, lights, etc) coming from? I've not heard Kovalev complain about anything but the judging.

 

I don't like Wards wrestling tactics and for those that like em how would they feel if every ref let every fight play out like that,the fans and to some extent the media do see through him which is why he's not as popular as he'd of liked,that said I can't disagree with him about double standards.
