Boxers That Have Had The Best Retirment

Lennox Lewis' retirement I believe was a prudent one, but I would'nt call it the best....
....he did leave with a cloud hanging over his head that Vitali had got the better of him, and that the cut on Vitali saved the fight for Lewis.

.....it also did'nt help that he had promised that there would be a rematch, and then retired.

A prudent retirement, but under the circumstances, not at all a fighter bowing out with his head held fully high going out on his terms.

Very true.
It's just refreshing that he is showing no interest in stepping back into the bigtime.

 

Yup, but still, he wasn't really unfair to Vitali. I believe a fighter has the right whenever he wants, it's his health on the line. It would be a different story if he fought someone else than Vitali instead of retiring - now that would be a disgrace.

So I'm voting Lennox Lewis. Even though the temptation is still there he's retired and his legacy is safer because of that.

Colin Jones retired at 25 years old - never came back. Invested his money wisley in property and now has a easy lifestyle.

 

Lennox Lewis - wealthy, not punchy, and retired at the top...

 

steve collins, beat benn and eubank twice each and avoided a loss to joe calzaghe as well as a beating from roy jones. plus he was in lock stock lol

 

I think it depends on two things mainly, leaving nothing on the table in terms of big challenges and doing it before hitting the way down on performance.

I think Calzague could have it better than Lewis with a couple more fights.

 

That guy's story might still end up tragically. You can never really know what kind of trouble Tyson might end up in as time goes on.

Anyway, as far as great retirements have go guys like Max Schmeling, George Foreman, Lennox Lewis, and Marvin Hagler all spring to mind. All guys made or are making lots of cash in different financial endeavors, and each one is just living life to the fullest. Proof that there can be life after boxing if you just use your damn head for anything other than a punching bag.

I think Rocky Graziano had a prety good life after boxing too didn't he? Didn't he start doing movies or something?
