Price is 21-4, having lost 4 times. Lost twice to 40+ y.o. Thompson, and twice to European-level fringe contenders Teper and Hammer. Many consider him as a second coming of Audley, and rightfully so. Do you think his career is over, or maybe he gets title shot like Audley did later in his career? Remember, Audley was 23-4 with losses to Danny Williams, Guinn,Sprott and Rogan. Then he 'pulled a miracle' when he won Prizefighter and later KO'd Sprott in 12th round in a fight where he was dominated. That gave him European HW title, and therefore Audley challenged David Haye for the WBA HW world title. Can Price repeat that achievement? He certainly has stamina for 3-rounds fight in a Prizefighter tournament, but I'm not sure he's capable of winning EBU HW title unless his opponent for the vacant belt will be Alexander Dimitrenko. Or maybe Eddie Hearn gifts him title shot after couple of wins over top-200 opponents?
Maybe Wilder will choose Price as an opponent after he crushes a few Serbian and Croatian tomato cans. Domestically the biggest fight he can land is someone like Chisora currently, MAYBE Whyte. Joshua seems to be interesting in fighting the best unlike Haye the conman.
It will take a bit to get back into the rankings won't it? Unless Wilder organises the WBC to elevate him like they did with Arreola.
Me too. I suspect it'd be a highly competitive back n forth affair with no knockdowns ending in a draw. Or maybe a first round blowout for Price. I dunno.
Price doesn't have the skills of audley. Price gasses in 4 rounds and his chin is comparable to audleys. The only thing price has over Audley is power and even that is debatable considering Prices power is hugely overrated. I don't think price will have a career anywhere near as good as Audley did. Price will lose at least a few more times if he carries on. He will end up a gatekeeper/test for British prospects looking to move on to European level.
Audley had more name recognition in the UK and there were no credible HWs in the UK apart from Haye. Also, Haye was as shameless as it gets. Nowadays the situation is different. AJ is more likely to take on Whyte again, Haye or Chisora if he wants a Brit to match. Then there are the Furys. Of the other champs, I suppose Wilder might stoop to Price, but even that's unlikely now.
I should have said prime for prime, of course. Audley, as bad as he always was, would probably have overcome the even worse chin of Price.
Really? Please tell us more, please tell us the fighters AJ has fought to date that can be classed as 'the best'. Then to put it into perspective for the 'Haye Haters'........every fight Haye had upto his injury was against a fighter who had either previous fought for a version of the Heavyweight world title before, or after they fought against Haye. (Obviously excluding fights against Haye himself). There was only one exception, and he was reigning European champion. In fact, if you were to add it up, you would find Hayes Heavyweight opponents have a total of around 48 or so world title fights between them. (CBA asked to add them all up right now, but that's around right.).
Joshua was brought up how any blue chip talent should... As soon he moved up to world level he pursued big fights without lame antics, constant pull outs, excuses.
