Like I said in the OP any boxer could put their opponent in a coma if they landed close to 300 shots and well over 100 uppercuts over 10 rds. Look at Dale Evans for instance, he killed poor Mike Towell and he only has 4 KO's in 17 fights.

I never said Eubank Jr was feather fisted, he's not but he's no Golovkin or Kovelav or even Thurman when it comes to punching power.

Also Spike has a history of burst eardrums. Nothing new there.

These guys are amongst the hardest punchers in the sport. Eubanks isnt as good as these guys in terms of ability. What you ve got to ask yourself is how come blackwell took all them uppercuts. Watching it on tv....you were thinking get out of the way. What is he doing. Same with most of the guys juniors fighting. But as i said eubank is disguising them punches. Hes not getting fully behind them because of it. He does it because one its effective and two he needs to do it because he,d struggle to land nearly as effectively because he doesnt have quite the ability of the guys mentioned.

Another thing they seem to be doing and its actually quite a smart thing for the future is there concentrating on the speed of the shot more than the power so he doesnt stay in there long enough to get replied to. Quinlan done it a good few times saturday. But the eubanks are trying to deliver the shots quickly to get back out. Hes not planting his feet with the shots. Think the old man was telling him to plant his feet more when quinlan was starting to wilt.

Think its a style thing...eubanks isnt aiming to knock people out with them punches anyway. Hes actually aiming to get them out by accumulation. And tbf its working for him.

As mentioned he's a volume and pressure fighter. Doesn't need one punch ko power. Hes battered virtually everyone he's been in with from pillar to post.

Personally I think he's made a very fast transition from being nothing to a very good fighter. Seems to have all the right boxes ticked.

Remember he's got lots of years to improve and if he continues at his current rate he could be what he's pertaining to be

Some very good responses here that say pretty much everything I could add.

In short, there was a time I thought Eubank's opposition was flattering him. That's not the case. He's a punching machine who will tear apart every opponent in his path other than the elite of his generation.

Fighters who have the toughness to live with him and counter sharply enough to upset his onslaught will be his undoing, but I can count those on one hand at supermiddle.

That said, he's a nightmare for everyone who owns a piece of the pie from 160-168.

BJS is one of the most underrated fighters in Britain and regardless of what Adam Booth might bring to his game, I highly doubt he'd be able to repeat his victory over jr. It's a good thing Eubank's promotional problems offer a good ecxuse to avoid him.

If the BJS rematch is such an easy fight for Eubank Jr than why's he turned it down twice??

Punches landed isn't a true indicator of power though. Golovkin lands a lot of jabs whereas Jr is all power shots. The difference being that Golovkin can rock people with jabs whereas Jr lands all these shots and the fighter's legs seem fine.

Lol, man I've burst my friend's ear drum with an inflatable hammer, that isn't a show of power. I always argued that Blackwell going into a coma proved quite the opposite. If Jr had power he'd have put Blackwell down, KO'd him properly or rocked him bad enough for the ref to stop it. He did none of those and continued punishment caused the injury.

Saunders was looked hurt toward the end of the fight but he was gassed after 7 rounds so that's more an exhaustion thing imo. He hurt Quinlan a couple of times but not enough to do any real damage. He even said in his interview the day after that Jr had no power.

I agree that it's a style thing but until he changes that style or manages to drop/rock someone of note with only a couple of shots then I'm not buying into his power at all.

To be fair he's got really good hand speed and movement, and throws a variety of punches.

He's bang average on power though.

All this discussion, yet Renold Quinlan summed it up in a few words: "there's no power, but he's got a good workrate"

Power is over rated. It's one component of a fighters arsenal.

I can hit the pads/bags pretty ****ing hard. But so what. There's 100 and 1 things needed to land that. And I haven't got anywhere near the competence to land it.

Jnr has a high ko % he gets the job done. If he lands 300 then that's shows his fitness, timing , accuracy, positioning all important components to be a good fighter.

Renold would probably say the same thing about GGG if he fought him, he's a tough SOB

He compared CEJs power to Joseph Kwadjo a career light heavyweight and he pretty much said they hit similar!!!!!

Well if by pure force.. but speed x force = power.. so he has it..

I would ditch 160 and target Groves if he wins.. then Degale.. and has what's his name vacated the other belt?

    Who's WBO champion?

Eubank could be the first to unify all 5 belts.. the Klits sorta did it.. but it wasn't the same..

In the post fight interview on IFL TV I thought Eubank Jn came across as petulant and deluded. Claiming his IBO belt was his ticket to the big fights. Slagging Degale off etc.

What I found interesting was him admitting that he made the weight comfortably and even had breakfast before the weigh in. Now, if he had the bottle to sign a contract and fight a quality SM (nevermind middleweight), his opponents will be working their backsides off & starving/dehydrating themselves to make the weight. Once fed and watered, that difference would be significant on fight night.

Quinlan, a domestic level fighter at best (lets not kid ourselves by talking him up) did not rate his power. He didn't even look like he'd been in a fight in his post fight press conference.

Eubank Jn should quietly move back down to a division where he does carry size and power. Yes, he'll land on a SM. Brook landed for fun against GGG, but he didn't hurt him, likewise for Eubank Jn.
