Will root for anyone to KTFO Wilder just so long as they'll pursue bigger fights than he does. Don't think Washington has a very good chance here though, he's better than a shot Arreola or Wawrzyk but Wilders handlers chose him for a reason. I give him about a 15-20% chance of pulling the upset.

Washington is not very good, if he were Wilder would never come near him..................will Washington take a dive or just get knocked out? Remember, Wilder will be fighting his 5th voluntary defense in a row against another bum, Washington has not even had enough time to train. Wilder is a fraud...................

 

In both cases you're saying they're really, really good based on your experiences sparring with them.

My point is that the quality of your judgment is doubtful considering how Golovkin v Wade turned out.

Wilders team does not pick opponents that are genuine threats to him.

Washington holds his hands very low and is very inexperienced- so it could be a short nights work for Wilder.

Washington sounded like he was already mentally defeated in a recent interview he did. At the very least, he needs to force Wilder to doubt that right hand (and its durability) following the injuries he's coming back from.

 

I figured you'd give Washington a better shot than 15-20%, considering in another post you called him a decent opponent and hoped that this fight would get made! Remember, I asked if you would give Wilder credit for fighting him. Seems like you're changing your position on Washington. I hope you're not one of the typical haters that criticize a fighter for not fighting a certain guy and once the fight is made, you start discrediting that same guy. Please brother unleash, please don't be that guy!!! LOL

I think he could be the 2017 version of Buster Douglas.

Remember, in February 1990, Mike Tyson was 37-0, coming off a 7-month layoff, and 42-1 underdog Buster Douglas was the replacement fighter. (Tyson was originally scheduled to fight Donovan Ruddock.)

Now, in February 2017, Deontay Wilder is 37-0, coming off a 7-month layoff, and huge underdog Gerald Washington is a replacement fighter.

Douglas pulled off the upset against Tyson. Could history repeat itself with Washington upsetting Wilder?

 

Gerald Washington is a solid opponent.

If you took 20 of the best heavyweights in the world, and put Gerald Washington in the other corner, and said which of these 20 guys clearly WHIPS WASHINGTON EASY, NO PROBLEM ...

I think I'd say Anthony Joshua would beat him easily ... and that's about it. A few MIGHT edge Washington via decision, two or three might stop him (although he's shown a fine chin), but it wouldn't be easy for ANY of them to do.

Wilder-Washington should be an exciting fight. I'm looking forward to it. It'll probably be more competitive than Joshua-Wlad.

 

I've gone and had a closer look at GW, wasn't overly impressed but I'm impressed he took the fight on relatively short notice.

Washington isn't aggressive enough, a safety first fighter and Wilder will wreck him.
