Sure I have. There was a fight where the champ from the upper division fought the champ at the below division at the weight limit of the below division and both belts were on the line. I can't think of the fight off hand. Didn't Leonard/ Lalonde have some sort of double catchweight?

That's because Dawson chose not to make it a title fight for his belt. He could have if he wanted to.

Why didn't Canelo fight GGG when he had a chance. GGG was WBC mandatory the fight was perfectly lined up with totally fair purses and rules for the fight, no complaints from anyone. Just Canelo dropped the belt after he couldn't pay off GGG anymore and ran off.

To this day it's the biggest show of disgraceful cowardice in boxing after Bowe's trashing of the WBC belt to duck Lennox Lewis.

BCS8, C.J. and lewis gassed like this.

Lalonde was a champ at 175 and he fought Leonard at 168 with both belts being at stake.

To answer your question, the WBC was dictating the time and some of the terms. Canelo wasn't having that. He dropped the belt and challenged GGG for a non-title fight. He sent GGG 3 offers, the last two are over 8 figure paydays at 160. GGG declined the offers.
