Press conference just kicked off for Taylor's first defense of the Commonwealth Title. Must admit I've never heard of this guy, doesn't look like he's fought outside his native South Africa. Anyone know anything about him?
I'm still not sold on Josh Taylor, not rush with him. These Africans are either tough as hell or they fall over, Josh needs some rounds so hopefully he's tough and durable.
Wasn't spectacular last performance and no need rush him keeps him grounded try get him more rounds plenty time better keep him busy then leather Ohara near end year
As an amateur sometimes Josh looked great, other times not so much. Different game in the pro's though of course. He is Scotland's best prospect by a long shot, probably best fighter in fact behind Burns. He has all the tools to go to the very top though without doubt.
McGuigan is hyping Taylor up too much, linking him to Burns etc he's only fought about 20 rounds, Joubert hasn't fought any credible names so not much interest there, why can't he go down the domestic route British title, there's loads of great fights in that division, build him right instead of trying to get a title that he won't be able to defend.
Josh beat Dave Ryan who's a solid fighter,Josh is a very talented boxer and has openly said he'd fight the likes of O'hara Dick Davis and spank him, you can't be watching the same thing has the rest of us
Taylor said at the press conference that he is hoping to use the Commonwealth Title as leverage to get a shot at the British title. Joubert is his mandatory apparently, so this fight had to be done. A step back from Dave Ryan, but a necessary one.
Jason is promoted by Cyclone and we have a plan in place for him, however in boxing anything can happen and it generally does
Ryan is 33 with 10 losses, past the tipping point tbh. I thought Taylor was a bit exposed in Vegas, saying he would spank Davis is different from actually doing it, why not spank Nurse for the British surely he's got to go there.
He's chosen Matthews, I guess we'll get a better look at Davies during that fight, then we'll see what he does afterwards.
Davis avoided a fighter at Lightweight and moved up, believe me he will avoid Taylor just as long has he can
