Quigg leaves Gallagher

Jesus can't believe the hate for Joe Gallagher on here. There's a lot of negativity.

he's a top trainer. No trainer is perfect.

the way he improved Crolla in particular was unbelievable.

 

I didn't even find that to to be the case outside of a couple parties I went to with work, the average women in a bar or at the staples centre when we went to a Lakers game were pretty similar to London.

 

He should have signed with JDJ!

 

Scott quigg waking from his homes front door to arena entrance, would JDJ allow that, JDJ is a pretty cool fellow

 

I reckon it's a good sign that Quigg has taken such a big step. Irrespective of whether Roach have much time with him, the fact that Quigg has elected to leave his home comforts shows that he wants to improve and be the best boxer he can be. Warm LA weather to do road work in, lots of good sparring - the danger is if he doesn't fully committ and tries the Khan approach of just having training camps in the USA - not a winning approach.

 

No I wouldn't but fortunately the world offers up more choices than that.

 

I liked LA,'s a big fake contradiction though.

I spent a few months there as a youngster just partying and meeting lots of strange people.

As long as you don't venture outside your American dream bubble your fine. Just pretend it's all real.

Fair play to him for trying to improve. Hope it works as could be some big fights for him with (Selby/CF/LSC)

 

Crolla beat the world no.25 and Liam Smith wouldn't fight Andrade and hasn't beaten anyone in the top 80.
Rigo was champ. Quigg wouldn't fight him and received a title via email.

Crolla was a senior ABA champ and England international who turned pro in a buzz of expectancy.

 

I think most people call it as it is with Gallagher. If you are a boxer with world level skills, you probably shouldn't be anywhere near him. If you are perhaps a level or two below, then his training style could help you mix it with the best.

For Crolla and Liam Smith, that's pretty much the situation. But Quigg has a higher ceiling if you ask me.

 

I personally think Joe G has let his own ego get ahead of his fighters... He want's it to be all about him now. Look at some of his interviews over the last year...
His fighters had 4 BIG losses last year

I've said on a few posts on here, I lost any trust in him as a trainer when he told Quigg he was miles ahead in the Frampton fight then panicked when he got told the SKY card.

 

Good move.

Although, weird that he says he wants to be a 2 weight world champion? Focus on winning the 1st one before getting ahead of yourself Scott.

And got schooled by a world level fighter.

Joe is good to a certain level and no holding a belt doesn't dictate which level you're at. He teaches solid fundamentals but his fighters aren't dynamic and lose any identity they have in the ring.
