I was advised that Haye would handle any of the smaller heavyweights throughout history. Joe Frazier apparently would be easy work and even Mike Tyson also.

Being the novice that I am I did not argue the point however I would be interested to know from the more esteemed boxing experts if this is the case. I recognise Haye as having certain abilities but what has he shown in his career to warrant such esteem?

Haye punched hard enough to beat them both, trouble is they hit plenty hard enough to beat him and had other qualities that would seem them likely prevail.

It is the mental toughness aspect which made me doubt Hayes chances.

How do you think he does against the top guys of his era?

Even taking the monsters like Klitschkos, Ortiz etc out of the picture I would still fancy Povetkin to take Haye out. Is that a misguided opinion?

He wasn't a top fighter in his own era despite his atheltic gifts.

I'd be very surprised if he was a top fighter in other eras.

I once thought Haye would go onto be special. I was wrong.

Haye wouldn't be able to handle the speed of tyson or the relelentles heat of frazier. His best chance against Joe would be a early round good solid punch and hurt him. But if that don't happen Joe gets to work and haye won't last in to the mid rounds. Tyson I believe takes him out in, 4

haye would not beat tyson or frazier. Tyson took single shots almost as well as anyone. You had to beat him down and break his spirit to win. Haye likes a slow pace where he can jump in with a surprise shot kind of like Roy Jones. Tyson 97 and earlier is just a really bad matchup for haye.
Haye could drop frazier a few times early but if frazier survives he will beat haye down. Haye has stamina issues and likes time and space to operate.

Haye would have a better than expected chance against evander holyfield however, stylistically. But again his stamina issues and holy's chin would be a problem.

Weird. I don't think the posters in the General forum would think that. Usually they have Tyson annihilating Haye, which is what I think.

Haye is one of the more dangerous punchers of his weight that I have seen, and in that sense he does mirror some aspects of the great cruiserweight fighters of the past.

He also has certain limitations however.

He lacks durability, and he also lacks stamina.

These limitations have prevented him from achieving true greatness.

It is fair to say that he would be dangerous to many greats of the past, but because of these limitations, he would likely loose to them.

He's Euro level , nothing more. Wouldn't have lasted a wet week in former HW era's.

The two bums he selected since he came back are the same type of guys Shannon Briggs has been fighting since his return.

Haye knows his level and its the same level as what 44 year old Briggs is only capable of beating.

What make matters worse it that Briggs looked better taking out these bums than Haye did. His shots were more compact , more clean and thrown in much better form. And he is in his mid 40's ffs.

Look at the state of Haye. Flailing all over the place like an novice. He doesn't look impressive to me , not for a world leveller anyway.

Briggs is clean , snappy , fluid and looks to be a harder hitter too

Haye has lots of talent speed and power but his safety first attitude has held him back.what has he left? We will find out .He would not beat Frazier Tyson or marcanio not because he couldn't but because he would view it as a business decision.

No one has said this on the General forum. This is just another alt of Fergy who is desperately wanting to talk about Tyson in every thread, but now doing it via a Haye thread. He hero worships him. Funny how his other alt hasn't posted since I outed him for having the same IP address.

Isn't the moderator going to ban SambaKing and block his IP address so he can't make another account?

you've got it wrong bud. I am not an alt.

The poster was called jim beam or something like that and another was a guy with a transformers avatar. The original
discussion was in a Wilder vs Pulev thread in general forum a few days ago. The reason I asked the question here was because I don't rate Haye and was surprised that knowledgable boxing fans would have him over the legends in question.

Haye would destroy guys like Marciano, Dempsey, Tunney and even Joe Louis because they were either too small or in Joe Louis case had a glass chin.

Haye could beat guys like Spinks because he wasn't a real heavyweight or any other smaller heavwyweight who couldn't take a punch.

Foreman, Tyson, Lewis, Bowe and other big bangers would stop him early. Other guys who could bang but weren't that skilled would make him run like he did from china Chin Wlad.
