Don't get it twisted, you acting like you personally won at something. And save the racist bull**** for your safe space meetings at the colleges and for conversations with privileged fat white girls - I don't give a **** about it. If Ward won fair and square I'd be the first to congratulate him, but he won in the most vile way possible - through the corruption of the sport I love, at the expense of my countryman that gave up every advantage to fight a privileged american diva on his home turf, with his judges and his refs, taking a pay cut just to prove he is the better man. Kovalev is everything that boxing should strive towards and cultivate, a true warrior that fights on the road against all challengers. Ward got a gift and is now hurt that people don't respect him for it. Tough luck snowflake, sign the contract and fight.

Dre does not fear Kovalev . Not even a little bit.
I know when a man is shook. Kovalev tried his best to intimidate in the weigh in and the staredown during the referee instructions. He failed.

Dre just wants Kovalev to sweat . Its clear to see.
I do believe he will grant Kovalev a rematch. Dre thinks very highly of himself and wont end his career on a fight where his own fans are still telling him till this day he lost.

I tend to agree. Ward knows him and Kovalev have unfinished business. He's making Kovalev sweat because he can.

It all comes back to what I said in my first reply, that Ward is in the driver's seat.

What makes you think Ward loses the rematch? Krusher had 10 rounds to finish Ward off but instead got a bloody nose.

Ward was able to adjust and Krusher could not. This means Wards wins the rematch in a wider UD.

Well, maybe that is the bottom line Rock, but I hardly think that's the whole story. And I'm hard pressed how you think it isn't about getting concessions - be it Ward getting concessions from Kovalev, Roc getting concessions from Main Events, or both.

I don't know much about the inner workings between Ward and Roc, and I have no idea what actually goes on behind the scenes, but I've been under the impression that they had a beneficial working relationship. Roc is new to the business, and making mistakes is the norm, especially with fledgling promotional companies that don't know the ins and outs of the business, and they tend to lack deeper connections (although in Roc's case, it's my understanding that they do have fairly deep pockets, which could prove more burdensome in the events when they do make a mistake).

I also can't pretend to know Roc's long term goals with this. Did they really expect to make a lot of money off of Ward? If so, what was there time line? Were they hoping to turn him into a star? Were they hoping to have a P4P talent on their roster? I don't know the answers to any of these questions.

But I do know one thing for certain - Ward IS in the driver's seat.

And whatever Ward ultimately decides to do, Kovalev KNOWS Ward is in the driver's seat.

For what it's worth, I believe the rematch will happen sooner or later. And I think Ward probably learned more from their first match, and I think Ward is already up in Kovalev's head right now.

Ward vs Kovalev 2 will happen.

    Dre wants to redeem himself.

One of the terms of the contract was that VADA drug testing must be done 3 months prior to the bout. The rematch actually always supposed to take place in...either June or July but I think they were pushing for June. With this being the end of Feb we're getting close to when the testing would take place, which is where the breach of contract comes in. I'm pretty sure he hasn't done anything wrong at all yet, but in about a month that's where the issue lies. If Ward isn't enrolled and subject to the drug testing soon it is violation of the contract.

I actually doubt anything will go wrong with all of that being said. I'm pretty sure the way this is going to work is that Ward is going to do the testing within a month and then we're going to hear a date for the fight, which seems like it will be the end of summer. If this doesn't happen however we're going to hear about a court date.

Lol, he probably would win in court honestly. I don't want this to happen though because it would shelve both fighters for quite some time until the case is finished. I want Ward-Kovalev to be decided in the ring, not the courtroom.

Or, they could wind up mutually agreeing to something entirely different, like they did last time around, where they allowed interim fights and agreed to a later date. I'm not saying that it would be the same thing this time around, but a variety of things of that nature are still in play, too, I think.

this thread has nothing to do with the result of the last fight. it has to do with Ward breaching a contract he willingly signed. btw, you are a doosh about 85% of the time.

what on earth does that have to do with breaking the contracted rematch? winning allows Ward to be above the law?

Why? Don't you believe Kovalev wants the fight and will take proactive measures to make it happen? Because I sure do.
