We could still put on The Matrix where you're at or Avatar and Hayes TV numbers would diminish. I wish Benny Hill was still alive lol...
the nhl game did 2.02 and the nba 2.31 million. in the seventies the nba and nhl combined ratings would be a fraction of a hw title fights.
I'm pretty confident, since name fighters haven't been seen much on free tv for so long, that those fox viewers are the same people that purchase HBO subscriptions.
This is a very good number for boxing period in the US, HW boxing in particular has been all but ignored in the US since America had fighters like Holyfield, Tyson & Bowe. Boxing all but faded into obscurity despite ODLH, Mayweather & Pacquiao in the US with almost all boxing here (especially these big name fighters) taking place on PPV, HBO or Showtime. The lack of star appeal throughout the sport along with so little (free) big fight national TV coverage has been a huge part of boxings fall out of the limelight. I'm talking to the point where channels like ESPN or major network news coverage was nonexistent for years. I'm actually amazed that many people watched or knew it was on, on a Saturday. Hardcore US boxing fans have been all that's keeping american TV views at this level, hopefully PBC will keep it up and DLH's new deal with ESPN will keep the numbers trending in a positive direction. But big time boxing only being available on Showtime, HBO or PPV for sooo many years, has really done a number on casual US viewers.
They need to fight on free to air TV more often, everyone wants that big PPV payday yesterday and it causes fighters to basically cherry pic until they get their PPV moment and the cash out.
