Tyson had some strong chemicals pumping through his body that's for sure.

Ruddock was arguably the most dangerous of Tyson's opponents. He rocked Mike a few times and if he managed to land more its not inconceivable that he had the power to win by KO, Razor just couldn't sustain an attack long enough and to Tyson's credit he rode out the attacks that did come his way and fired back. I hope Ruddock was joking about the substances, there no proof Tyson took anything, so dont label a man unless there is at least something solid to go by....

Tyson ducked right into some of those homerun uppercuts, he took single shots VERY well especially if he was in shape and not exhausted.

I think the Ruddock fights are a god send in terms of Tyson's legacy. without them you couldn't really say he was hit and hurt but still had the ability to stick to his game plan, which he was never able to do post prison. of course the Douglas fight was the only real time he was behind and he failed to come back, but at least against Ruddock there is a slither of evidence he could deal with some serious offence and remain confident.
detractors like to diminish this (it didn't help that Lewis took the Razor out in 2) but when you examine those fights you see Tyson was more than a bully that wilted after fighting a wilful opponent, history will likely pick up on it more?

Another thing one has to consider is with tyson's height and his style the initial assault was always going to be the most dangerous. With tyson's style at 5'10 what exactly is plan B going to be? Stick and move?
There is no fight in his career(disregarding the last fight vs mmcbride for money)where tyson could have won it if he had more heart, how much more punishment was he supposed to absorb vs douglas holyfield and lewis and would that have won him the fight? Seriously give tyson the most heart EVER in a boxer does that mean he wins the douglas holyfield1 and lewis fight? No he just gets beat on for a little longer without landing anything. He gassed out after 2 rounds vs lewis and after 5 vs holyfield yet he just kept coming forward taking his beating, he was exhausted and out of it, trying to get up to keep fighting vs douglas and he was still on his feet trying to survive the barrage vs holy, against lewis he could have gotten up maybe but there was no point he was outclassed and hadnt landed any decent power shots the entire fight.

Tyson looked in sheer agony in his corner during that fight. Wasn''t that during the time that he went around saying he wanted to eat Lewis's children and bit Lewis' leg during a prefight scuffle?

Tyson always had a good chin. As stated already he did take single shots very well. Razor knocked his mouthpiece out at least once. It seemed to me that when an opponent could touch him consistently or pepper him that was his kryptonite. The opposite of Joe Frazier to an extent. You could hit Joe all day and he never got discouraged or slowed his own offense down.

It wasnt just the getting peppered it was also being out of gas and getting beaten into submission.

    Later in the fight yes.

When Tyson got peppered or hit consistently he started thinking a bit too much. He tightened up, started to lean and threw once punch at a time. His offense was nullified.

Tyson was visibly buzzed in both Ruddock bouts, trouble is Ruddock only had that one shot and couldn't follow it up with combinations like Douglas, if he did I have no doubt the second fight would have ended differently.
