Safe-ish test run in a real fight against someone with big reach and height (ie, longer and taller than Joshua himself). And the fact that while he's no world beater, only morons/haters would call him a bum.
he (DIMITRENKO) is a safe bet journeyman fighter for the B level fighters to cut there teeth on use as a big target. Parker will starch him easily because although he is tall and has a great reach advantage he can't hardly punch the skin of a rice pudding. His boxing is better than Parkers, its just a pity he punches so lightly that the "take a punch to give a punch" philosophy can be applied because the risk factor is very low-unless you have a glass jaw and Parker has been ok in this department so far so seems he has a reasonable jaw at least. I have noticed Parker being willing to get on his toes and move backwards an awful lot......I suspect this is to sharpen his game plan strategy in preparation for handling AJ. He goes backwards in a straight line which may be a problem when he hits the ropes while AJ throws leather his way.

Sorry about your teeth :yep And in regards to my comment, I was going along the lines of a tall opponent that relies on his jab to start most of his combos. So, making a fight against Whyte (Who isn't tall, and doesn't have an alphabet ranking), and Browne (who isn't tall), isn't worth the time or the risk. I firmly believe Parker would beat both of these guys, but that isn't the point. He is lined up for a Joshua fight, now why would he face either one of these guys?:?
for the same reason he would pick a light hitting, big guy who bares no resemblance in style to AJ. I see you point and respect the reasoning for the match up on the count of size relativity to Joshua, but both Brown and Whyte could beat this guy without too many problems. I guess for me, its getting tiring watching average fighters getting touted as dangerous fighters, when the chances of losing to him ridiculously low.:deal
This is a nice matchup, I really like this and will tune in! Dimitrenko doesn't have a lot left in the tank but IMO this is Parkers toughest test since Takham. Dimitrenko won't wobble Parker, Dimitrenko has a questionable chin, but hes technically good, has a solid long jab, good footwork, and good defense. This matchup is perfect matchmaking at this stage for Parker. If he wants to have a chance vs. AJ he has to blow away Dimitrenko and neutralized his defense without any problem.
Surprised Parker is wanting another couple of fights when he has a chance at champ Joshua. Parker has already had more pro fights than Joshua
I dont think Parker has much chance at beating Joshua if he fights anything like he did against Takam. Takam took all he had and still kept coming forward whilst Parker got caught on the ropes far too many times. Joshua might just payout on him if he does that. Joshua's punch is clearly superior to Parker's, now all that remains to be seen is who has the superior Jaw. I think Parker will be able to land his straight down the line punches, but not as often as he has done against his former opponents who have all been selected on the basis that they all have poor guards, very little footwork, and no head movement whatsoever. This will come back to bite JP in the butt when he fights a power puncher with superior height and reach, and who has shown he can control the range and can be patient. He has his vulnerabilities of course as Whyte could reach him, but that was when AJ was willing to get involved in a fight and took risks n doing so :deal
It's good match-making, a fight in which Parker should learn minus risking his pop at Joshua. That's not to say Dimitrenko is going to lay down. The thirty-four year old will be fully conscious of his opportunity, that this is his final shot at redemption. Parker's much talked about defensive issues must be encouraging, not to mention the ludicrous reach advantage. If Alexander comes out assertive...well, there's hope at least. Parker's body attack is the most important thing he has going for him in this land of giants. When they overreach or he double-jabs his way in he must set the tone and let rip with his shorter arms, overrule the referee. After Dimitrenko it will be apparent why the body attack is vital against Joshua.
