Are Cintron/Martinez and Chavez/Vera I the worst robberies ever?

I have been on a robbery kick lately and wanted to watch some fights from a few years back to see if my mind has changed. Nope. These are two of the worst robberies I have ever seen. I'm sure there are some lesser known disgraceful fights involving contenders when they were very young, but these two are at the top of my list.

What say you? Also, I am not necessarily talking about high profile fights like Kovalev-Ward, which was indeed a robbery. But more so the fights that were just downright disgraceful and one-sided, that went the wrong way.

Recently...no, not anywhere close to as bad as Garcia-Herrera. The Martinez decision was egregious, but at least it was a draw and not a flat out loss, Chavez it could be argued nicked the Vera match by a round, or at the very least a draw. Danny lost the Herrera math 117-111 maybe even at worst 118-110.

Chavez-Vera a draw or possible Chavez win?? Boxrec has a ton of press scorecards: http://boxrec.com/media/index.php/Julio_Cesar_Chavez_Jr_vs._Brian_Vera_(1st_meeting) and by my count they have: 60 scores with 56 for Vera and 4 a draw. That fight had inside job written all over it. I haven't seen anyone give Chavez the win and the fact that 56/60 think Vera won says it all.

I do understand your point about Martinez-Cintron because it was a draw and not a loss for Martinez. But it's not often you see a guy KO the other guy and also beat him by decision, only to be given a draw.

Most had it for Vera by a point, and there were a lot of hard to score rounds, Vera outworked Chavez and then Julio would come back and invalidate all of his pitty pats with 3 or 4 hard shots that would rock Vera to his core. I had it a draw, personally I don't think its a huge robbery, when the guy may have won by a point and got robbed, its not quite as bad as losing by 3-5 rounds like Garcia did against Herrera and getting a gift, Peterson-Diaz is also another recent sickening example.

Canelo vs Erisandy Lara my G

Pure robbery in my eyez.
Canelo caught a boxing lesson that night, got completely outclassed and was ineffective with almost everything he threw at Lara .

Canelo did not win that fight. No way , No how .

Joel Casamayor vs Jose Armando Santa Cruz on the Cotto - Mosley PPV.

Santa Cruz knocked him down in the first round, landed twice as many punches, and won every round.

Casamayor won by split decision in the worst robbery this century.

Reid Ottke. Never again will we see a boxer penalised for punching his opponent in the face.

Lewis-Holyfield 1 was ruled a draw. in reality it could have easily been 120-108 Lewis.

DLH-Trinidad comes to mind.

And the Canelo-Lara fight, it could've gone either way. I feel Lara was on his bicycle for most of the night though.

I thought Williams-Lara was worst than the others mentioned.

Peterson - Ortiz hardly gets any mention but that was a bad one.

They were both pretty bad, but there's always worse. The sport is like an onion. Just scratch the surface and underneath there's another layer. But that goes for great fights too. Whenever I think I've seen everything and I think I know how this sport works, something comes out of left field and completely blindsides me.

Also, in the history of robberies, isn't Wyatt Earp reffing and fixing the Fitzsimmons vs Sharkey fight supposed to be up there? Whitaker vs Chavez. Pacquiao vs Bradley I. De La Hoya vs Trinidad. JLC vs Mayweather I. Lara vs Williams. Roy Jones at the Olympics. Marquez vs Pacquiao 3.

Marcus Browne vs Radivoje Kalajdzic last year sucked too. Garcia vs Herrera. Bradley vs Chaves.
