I thought Eddie Hearn was bang out of order chucking what appeared to be an emotionally fragile lad to the lions in two very short notice fights against Whyte and Ortiz. However, it appears that he's got an affection for Allen and now wants to build him up with the potential to become a British champion.

Do we think he's good enough? I'd love to see him in against the likes of Price and Cornish. Needs a few more opponents like the lad on Saturday to build his confidence right back up though imo.

He beats both of them. Be supprised to see David price in the ring again though.

I think Allen wins a lonsdale belt, at least until the new Olympic crop come and take it off him

He is certainly good enough to fight at British belt level and win, and young enough at I believe 24 to still improve a bit. He may even get a euro shot, or dare I say, if he goes on a 4 or 5 fight win streak he sneaks into a top 15 ranking somewhere and can become someones voluntary. Not saying he is good enough or ever likely to be to get a shot at a world title, but wouldn't put it past EH and it being some kind of 2 or 3 year plan for Allen.

He does seem to have learnt from Whyte and Ortiz, and in a cruel way could be the best boxing education he could have had.

I think the perfect fight for him would be Sam Sexton at this stage, Hearn should look to set that up for the British title. I'd actually pick Dave to do him on points don't rate Sexton highly at all.

I'm sorry to say it as he seems a nice young guy and is a good laugh, engages with the fans on Twitter etc., but no chance. If he wins a British title he'll be overachieving.

I hope he does it and I'll be cheering him on every step of the way but once he steps up again it's going to end the same way.

People are confusing his likeability with his actual boxing skills.

    He's tough....that's it.

Someone needs to teach him how to throw a right hand. His defence is none existent, carries average power, and has very limited foot movement.

He could win an english title, that's his level.

Spot on with that last line. He even says so himself. What other domestic heavyweight has done 10 rounds with Dillian Whyte and 7 rounds with Luis Ortiz?

Dave is fighting again this Saturday on the Haye/Bellew undercard.

He would destroy David Price because he is fitter and has an iron chin. But he is an awful boxer. Remember how bad he was against Gavern.

Price is totally shameless. If only his jaw was as brass as his neck.

He'll be back soon even fatter than before talking the same old rubbish about being one fight away from a World Title and ignoring all the chicken dancing he's done recently, ready to fight a dog toy or two before doing his Rubber-Jaw McGraw routine on route to licking the canvas.

But yeah, let's see Allen in against some domestic opposition and see how he does.

Horrible fight that one, Gavern doing his upmost to get DQ it seemed.

From what I'm hearing hes retired but no official announcement yet, I don't blame him if he has. Not many British level fighters leave the game will £1m(ish) in career earnings. But to be fair he boxed well at times against hammer. Dave Allen stops price late on

what makes you think he beats Cornish mate, have you seen Cornish other than him being beat by Joshua?
I've seen plenty of Allan and I seriously fancy Gary's chance against him.
I don't understand all the nonsense about him to be honest

Your right bill, the only fight i have seen of Cornish Is the Joshua one and that's not really much to go off. You know Cornish more than any of us and I beleive he is a better boxer than Allen but Allen is on your chest for the whole fight and that takes a lot out the gas tank
