Boxers in the last few decades Least motivated by money, more motivated with Legacy

You can nitpick any fighters career.... most fighters make both legacy moves and money moves in their career, and their praise and or hate is based on what part of their careers they are in and if they are closer to their legacy moves or money moves. Not to mention a lot of the times, legacy and money really do overlap, which is the case in a lot of these. But I kinda view it as, what the fighter could have done instead. They chose hard fights (some for big money) but could have sat back and been fed wins, building their brand and raising their stock and eventual paydays... instead they went for the Glory.

anyways, here are some random legacy moves various fighters have done... for better or worse

Shane Mosley could have fought Hoya for a third time for big money.... declined the money and fought Winky Wright instead

Zab Judah took a measly 200k (i think it was) and agreed to Spinks backyard to get his rematch with him to try and reclaim his crown

Fernando Vargas fought Winky Wright, Ross Thompson, Ike Quartey and Felix Trinidad, in the span of 12 months.... when he could have been groomed over the course of a few years milking his titles.

Hopkins went above and beyond (had to overcome network disputes) to make the Kovalev fight happen.... easily one of the hardest fights available to him

Canelo fought Lara against his promoters wishes in what everyone pretty much knew (outside of canelo groupies) was going to be a close fight. Big risk for almost no reward at that point.

Morales, when asked why hes fighting Raheem, said because he knew that style was a bad matchup for him and wants to test himself....

Rosado was just breaking into the mainstream, was gaining momentum, and was on the verge of a title shot in his own division against a very beatable K9, instead of staying in his lane and building his brand, he moved up to challenge Golovkin at a time when not too many people were willing to fight G, in a fight most knew Rosado was going to get busted up in.
