David Haye "He was the better man no excuses i gave everything but he stayed up"

Yeah something obviously wrong with him. His shyte went.

He tried to tough it out but couldn't. Fair play he tried to fight through it so credit where it is due.

 

I think it's pretty ironic when Haye boxes 12 rounds vs Wladimir and looks well on his feet and then blames the loss on a broken toe. BUt when he's aucally hurt and he's limping to his corner, taping his ancle he says he lost the fight fair and square.

It's really sad to see Davids career to end on a note like this and I hope there's a rematch. But what can you take away from Bellew he did exactly what he said he was going to do and David acually was a broken man this night.

 

Loved the begging for a rematch bit. Haye always relied too much on athleticism, but the boxing skills were always lacking a bit. Lunging in with wild shots, throwing himself off balance. Against bigger slower heavy weights it worked, but the smaller fighters at cruiser weights were alot more awkward for him, not so stationary. Holyfield and Herbie Hide would have whooped his ass too.

 

He learned from the Klitschko debacle

 

I think he's said it because he wants a rematch. Anyone who saw the fight knows it was THE deciding factor, anyway.

 

Yet even with that he was still winning easily until the injury....

 

He can get a couple ounces of respect from some and then quietly ride off into the sunset, never to be heard from again except when discussing great marketers with a fraudulent post-prime.

 

He wasn't winning easily. I had it 2-2 after 4 rounds, I've never seen Haye miss an opponent so much he hit Wlad more than he hit Bellew.

Tony fought a smart fight, Haye was winning the fight sure but I think it's inactivity that cost Haye not just the injury.

You can't go into a fight against a good opponent after 5 years out and expect to blow them away.

Haye won a lot of fans tonight because he showed a fighters heart that people never thought he had.

 

Well I think he was, and everyone else seemed to have the same 4-1 (5-1 if you include the round he was injured, which he also won) score cards. How did you have it after 6? I agree he took him lightly, by the way. Maybe he was worried his achilles would give way and was trying to blow him away early?

 

Probably 4-2 to Haye, but there was nothing easy about it. I always felt there was some twists and turns to be had in the fight even if the injury didn't happen. I'm not saying Tony was going to win but I thought he was better than expected and that surprised me.

 

Haye's physical prime was over years ago. He always relied on explosiveness and speed and those are the first things that go. Add the inactivity and injuries to the list.

 

Paulie (amazingly he was calling the fight not long after fighting himself) and Froch had it 2-1 Haye with 1 round even after 4. I think Bellew won the first, but for the next several rounds Bellew was doing almost nothing offensive. Literally Bellew was just waiting all round for Haye to throw so he could counter. Bellew was pretty much giving away those rounds which wasn’t a bad idea since there were questions about Haye being able to go rounds.

I’d like to see the official cards, how much Haye was up, but I think Haye was probably winning by at least 2 or 3 rounds at one point.

 

I actually thought it was looking easier and easier for Haye after the 2nd or 3rd. He was working off the jab and wasn't simply looking for ridiculous hayemakers all the time. I could have seen a mid to late stoppage as his weight told, or a clear points win. I really saw no way Bellew could hurt him.

 

Sure but he was winning the fight until the injury came about so even tho he wasn't looking his best he was still ahead. I just had to watch a few early rounds of his fights a few years ago and he did look way faster then and more elusive so something wasn't right.
